    Happy 70th "Mr. Tiger"

Just a little post to give love to one of my all-time heroes and one of the most underrated Hall of Famers in history, Al Kaline. Al turned 70 this past Sunday. He was a great player and a great man who is still active in the Tigers' organization and the community.

    The Man!!

For those of you that don't know Al Kaline, here are a few tidbits:

Al Kaline was a model of consistency who excelled with minimum fanfare. Over 22 seasons, the quiet, durable Tiger outfielder accumulated 3,007 hits, 399 home runs, a .297 batting average, 10 Gold Gloves and 15 All-Star team selections. "Mr. Tiger" won the batting title in 1955, hitting .340 at the age of 20 (the youngest EVER to win the award). His reputation as a clutch performer was enhanced by his .379 average against St. Louis in the 1968 World Series. He had a career .987 fielding percentage with 170 outfield assists. Right Field in Tiger Stadium (and now Comerica Park) was later named Kaline's Corner, but during his playing days they called it "Where triples go to die".

    Happy Birthday, Mr. Tiger!!!
