Am watching the replay of the Cubs game today. I have to say the Cubs should fire Chili Davis more often.

Opening Day is done and the 2019 Home Run Tracker is up and running!

48 bombs on Opening Day, including 2 lead-offs, bringing the season total to 56.

Tim Beckham, as we all predicted, is the current clubhouse leader with 3 on the season.

You mentioned earlier today that George Springer became the first player to hit a leadoff homer in 3 straight seasons...I'm watching the recaps and he popped out in his first at bat. Did I misunderstand what you were trying to say?

Yeah, first batter from the leadoff position (the actual tweet said "one-hole hitter) to home run in 3 straight Opening Days. Not 3 straight lead-offs.

As in, he was the leadoff batter in 2017, 2018, and this year and in all three games he homered. Not specifically lead-off, which they happened to be in 17 and 18.

lol, have to get use to baseball schedule all over again. Almost forgot there's another game tomorrow, and day after that, and day after that.

              Here's a trivia winner.

Chris Sale is the only pitcher since at least 1908 to strike out the final batter in a World Series, and then strike out the first batter of the next season.

Going back 50 years (to 1969), the Mets are 38-12 in their season openers.

Which is the best record of any team in any of the 4 major sports over the past 50 years.

If only the season ended after Opening Day

As for Sale oof! I woke up and read his line. That wasn't too good. I know it's only one start but my prediction about him this year is starting well.

Blue Jays have lost eight consecutive home openers. I wonder what the record is?

Lol, I'm sure it's probably some crazy number.

Its fitting Jays would do that. Everyone enters with hopes and optimism, Jays dash all of it after home game 1 lol.

Lol yeah no kidding. Even I struggle with him in The Show. I’ve pitched with him few times with different teams and it’s always a struggle! (Heck I struggled with him last night as a Jay so I switched him with Javy Guerra who apparently had a worse year last year than hudson did but got out of the inning easily... go figure!)

Glad the cubs have the day off today after a tough stretch of games. Don't need them too worn out this early in the season.

Yandy Diaz's giant arms have their first homer of the season and it was an absolute bullet. 17 degree launch angle to dead center. He is a seriously strong man, if he can lift the ball even a bit then he's going to hit the ball an impossibly long way.

Equalled his homerun tally for last year already

Matt Shoemaker absolutely baffled the Tigers tonight and the Jays get the first win of the year!
