They aren't really overspending when they have the revenue to afford it. They can also afford even more then what they are paying, with YES as a asset. Other teams owners are just way to cheap and rather pocket revenue then spend it on their team, which eventually makes revenue go down, making owners even cheaper.

My point exactly. I am a baseball fan first so I do wish all teams would even their spending out. But, there are far too many revenue streams to have teams like the Devil Rays, Twins, Pirates, etc. not spending more than 60 million on their team.

If the yankees indeed sign RJ, I will no longer be a Yankees fan.

Oh yea, you're right that some of the teams can afford to spend, like our teams do.

It's just that salaries this offseason have been ridiculous, and looking back at the history of free agency, what players sign for have been out of whack.

The NBA's getting just as bad, if they haven't been already :P

There are owners out there that do have the money to compete but choose not to. That kind of thinking with being too cheap to spend gets the league top heavy with salaries and talent, for the most part.. it's just in my opinion though. Who's going to end up going after the big players? Yankees, Red Sox, Mets.. and now Angels, Orioles, Cardinals, Cubs..

Why do we even need to have these discussions about salaries, the cap, etc? :O

Yea it sucks to be a fan of a team that is about to add one of the most dominant pitchers of all time LOL.
