Yea it sucks to be a fan of a team that is about to add one of the most dominant pitchers of all time LOL.
what do you think is more fun and exciting from a fans point of veiw. watching the farm system work wonders and produce several different unexpected allstars for your team, or just keep renting aging guys every year

IMO (yes my opinion) as a braves fan, what has kept me coming to the games is the young talent we have gotten such as marcus giles, raffy furcal, charles thomas, jeff francour, dewayne wise, horacio ramirez, jonny estrada, etc every year. do the yankees even have a farm team? honest question here, how many people have they called up from the minor leagues to be in the starting lineup in the past 5 years?

Off the top of my head, I can think of two, Alfonso Soriano and Brad Halsey. Soriano is probably the only one who has made a positive contribution. That's off the top of my head though.

I hope you were kidding. I'm not going to like this move. Why get him in the first place? They'll be looking for another one after this year. I just started watching baseball, and I can tell you right now that I wont be a Yankees fan for much longer.

As a Yankees fan since the mid 90's, I understand where you are coming from. As much as I enjoy have talent, I'd rather it be homegrown. I miss the days of Posada, Tino, Knoblauch, Sojo, Jeter, Brosius, Boggs, Bernie, Spencer, Ledee, O'Neil, Fielder, Chili Davis, Wettland, Cone, Wells, Stanton, Nelson, etc without the fear of people saying they "buy championships" Its very tedious explaining that the Yankees haven't even won since they have quote "Bought Championships" but people don't listen.

                    Elicoleman I agree with you.

I just cant explain to myself why I'd pull for a team that is trying buy championships and it hasn't worked. I wish they'd be homegrown again.

As a Yanks fan all the championships are great whether the payroll is 95 mil or 205 mil. I'm been a fan of the Yanks since the early 90's and I still remember all the dreadful years of finishing below .500. I still remember the 1990 squad that won only 67 games and the leading RBI man was Jesse Barfield who only had 78.

It doesn't make it more special just because they may have less than 2 or 3 FA's on the team.

I know people like to bash the Yanks for not developing their own players but the Yanks Brass must be doing something right when they use their drafted players to help aquire players like A-Rod, Unit, and Vasquez.

And besides it's hard to blame George for spending his money. Every fan out there no matter which sport would love it if his favorite teams owner was willing to spend whatever it takes to win championships. You ask a Royal fan if they would rather have George or their current owner and I can already tell you what their answer would be.

George abides by the current CBA which the majority of the owners and current Commish agreed upon. He's not doing anything illegal. God bless George because I wish their was more owners like him in sports.

The thing is though, these were underappreciated signings because the people werent past-day Arods and RJs. These were hardnosed get it down at all cost types of players, who put the team ahead of their own stats.

Until the day George realizes this, they will not win another WS, and yes I even include the 2005 season. The Cardinals will win it all, i guarantee it.

I know those weren't homegrown but some of the others were and the ones you listed, weren't getting paid 25 Million a year. Sorry if I never specified.
