Kind of like a Dom Thompson-Williams type? Hes played well in the minors this season after a breakout campaign last season, cant believe hes rated as low as he is (15th in the org) thanks for him by the way. You can take Sheffield back and give us someone else though. Also, Seager would be a huge upgrade at 3B for NYY with Andujar out for the year. Last season Seager's BABIP was like .240 which would explain his average being so low.

OMG the Mariners have a 4-3 lead over the Twins in the 6th. Too bad we will lose 12-4, but nice none the less.

Way to use the wheels Bader to get that run.

Now lets hang on to this!

Really surprising to see Hicks lose control of that one. Threw a lot of pitches for an inning and a third, though.

              Why was Shildt tossed?

Yeah Schildt waited a batter or two too long to pull Hicks. Needed to go to Martinez sooner. Not sure if it changes outcome, but Hicks was tired.

5 straight series losses for the Cards. We need to rattle off 7 of 10 badly.

Mariners won a game, one more and that's called a winning streak!

A little Torii Hunter in Victor Robles' game. That was a stellar catch while running into the wall.

Sure Harper hit what turned out to be the winning HR, but let's not forget who got things going when down early.

Lead by example Cutch.... lead by example (say with extra flair and drama)

I spent way too long making this video and analysis for just one individual, so I thought I'd just share it with you all.

From just watching Giants games, it seems that Evan Longoria very recently has changed something in his batting stance, and will hopefully yield an approach with more successes at the plate.

I provided video from May 1st (left) versus last night (right). Keep in mind he is already at his lower positioning that he appears to have changed since last season (I only provided something from back when because the Colorado series had a vastly different camera angle and the Cincinnati series had crap video quality, but he just started this about in the past series).

                          <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tTaFPKwQ0co" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Longo's hands are now positioned behind his head, lower and closer to the helmet (more ala Miggy Cabrera) instead of directly above and separated from the body. This allows for him to take a lesser path to his load position, which he has maintained throughout his career. He's been getting lengthy and lofty by taking a longer route previously (this was exacerbated when he used to be more upright as well), and shortening that up will create more consistency for him in the end. It also gets him into his loading position faster (look at the two GIFs above), so he doesn't need to emphasize as much leg work in opening out to produce proper timing.

He is also slightly less open than before. Open stances have a tendency to close just fine upon striding, but that also generates more opportunity to uncork/unwind because of that long path to close up (and perhaps close up too much). You can see it on the left where his hips open far out of sync with his upper body, and his finish brings him farther around than a squared up approach. Now that he has less to close up from, his body has less to unwind with and he can stay more in sync with his upper half, as you see in the video on the right. This should also keep him on the outside pitches longer, especially the breaking stuff off the plate.

Hopefully this continues to provide better results for him in the long run.

Nice to see MLB get it right scheduling wise.

Holiday in Canada today, so Jays get afternoon home game.

Things like that should be mandatory. This weekend should always be a home series for the Jays, ending on a Monday with an afternoon game. Next weekend I believe is long weekend in the US, so they can play on the road those weekends every time.

Similarly with Canada Day, it's nice how MLB has it set up where Jays play at home during that time, even if the holiday might be on a Wednesday or something (this year is Monday, so it's a nice long weekend).

And the Jays completely screw it up by resting Vlad. You don't do that when you have a decent, holiday crowd.
