I don't understand how you guys can say that a big fly pitcher is good for the M's.....that's all they've got....that's all they've been working with for YEARS...I mean, get a clue...we need a pitcher that can show the strengths we have in our infield....in other words, a pitcher that keeps balls on the ground, not pops 'em up in the air.

Beltran to Mets. Mets will offer him most money. And italmost always come down to money.

Delgado to Baltimore. Even Carlos has to be thinking of what he could do in this ballpark.

Derek Lowe to Detroit. Philadelphia could be the sleeper team.

                    O. Perez to Mets. If Trachsel is traded for a 1B or is part of the Sammy Sosa trade. Astros the sleeper team.

Magglio to Detroit. Boros works out two for one deal for both his clients........

                    Just my thoughts

                        Rangers:

They'd have to trade for him, but I would love them to get Javy Vasquez. I think that guy has some serious stuff, he doesn't walk batters, and he strikes out hitters as well. I would be concerned with his homeruns he gives up though. However, I think he could be a solid pitcher for the Rangers. As much as I want to see our young guys get more oppurtunities, I seriously think the Rangers must go into the season with more than Kenny Rogers and Ryan Drese as their top two. Add Vasquez to that deal, and then leave the other two spots for guys like Ricardo Rodriguez and Chris Young. Injuries seem to always open up spots here and there as well.

Secondly, Delgado! At 32, and coming off a down year, I am skeptcal of giving him a 4 year $40 to $48 million deal. But I know he is exactly what the Rangers need. A left handed hitter who can pound the ball to right field, hit for .280 or better, and walk 100 times. The Rangers desperately need some who can not only hit for average and power, but desperately need a player who can get on base, and Delgado gets on base with walks. I guess my thinking is, I don't want to committ that kind of money to him, but I would be very willing to give Delgado 3 years at $8 million per year. Then I would add incentives to those deals, such as hit 38 homeruns in a season and get a $1 million bonus. Hit .300, $1 million bonus. Walk 90+ times in a seaosn, $1 million bonus. Just things like that, and even possibly do these three things 5 times in 3 years and there is a 4th year option that kicks in at $10 million. Something like that that would be incentive for Delgado to perform, yet still make $8 million in base. And those numbers are not unreachable for him, hitting in the ballpark 80 times is a season, he could destroy those numbers.
If the Rangers get those two players, I believe they are leap years ahead of the AL West.

I would love for the Mets to have signed Magglio Ordonez, but I don't think they will, for the simple fact that he tried out for teams at the winter meetings, and it was not a great show. I even heard reports that his knee still isn't 100% and it may never be, thats why he isn't signed as of yet. If he was 100% do you think he would have a contract already, I do. The knee is what's holding a contract up.
