A left handed hitter who can pound the ball to right field, hit for .280 or better, and walk 100 times. The Rangers desperately need some who can not only hit for average and power, but desperately need a player who can get on base, and Delgado gets on base with walks. I guess my thinking is, I don't want to committ that kind of money to him, but I would be very willing to give Delgado 3 years at $8 million per year. Then I would add incentives to those deals, such as hit 38 homeruns in a season and get a $1 million bonus. Hit .300, $1 million bonus. Walk 90+ times in a seaosn, $1 million bonus. Just things like that, and even possibly do these three things 5 times in 3 years and there is a 4th year option that kicks in at $10 million. Something like that that would be incentive for Delgado to perform, yet still make $8 million in base. And those numbers are not unreachable for him, hitting in the ballpark 80 times is a season, he could destroy those numbers.
If the Rangers get those two players, I believe they are leap years ahead of the AL West.
Delgado would be a MONSTER in Texas. He'd probably have 60 HRs if he were a Ranger. He just loves hitting in that ballpark.

Agreed. I doubt 60, but I feel your knowledge. I think he would tear that ballpark to shreds....but I sure would want him to earn the money. The Rangers have a very very good farm system at the moment. There are several young prospects tearing up the minors. I like what the Rangers are doing in giving these guys like Blalock, Texeira, Mench, Nix, Laird, Chris Young, Ricardo Rodriguez, Frankie Fransisco, Cordero chances to be the nucleus of the ball club. I just fear that the window is opening and it may be time to make a couple moves that could get us through the window. I think Vasquez and Delgado could do that, while Vasquez would probably cost us a prospect, Delgado would not. The price of these two players would be about $16-20 million for the year, and being the Rangers payroll is at a low of $50 - something million, I the Rangers would be financially fine. I'm not asking for a $100 million payroll.

Re: Remaining Free Agents: Who would you like your team to sign?

As an Astros fan the obvious answer is Carlos Beltran. It seems as if the Astros have pinned their entire offseason hopes on him. If he signs then Clemens will come back, if he does not sign then Roger probably retires. It's that simple. Tim Pupura says they have backup plans in place, but I do not consider Jeromy Burnitz a backup plan unless they are talking about backing up in the standings. One thing is for sure we only have till the 8th to find out if Houston is a legitimate contender to sign Beltran.

Wouldn't hurt. We all know he's awesome in the post. But naw, I'm just saying we need pitchers that don't give up so many Homers, no matter what that means. We've been relying on pitchers that give up homers for years now, and it's obviously NOT WORKING. We have such an amazing team fielding-wise, so why can't we get a pitcher that can keep the ball in the park?! it's the only way we're gonna win. Am I the only one that sees this?

                          Padres:

                          SP - Odalis Perez

They've down graded the rotation and even if I think Oliver Perez is better than Odalis, he's still better than that overrated pos named Adam Eaton.

I don't know of any RP available.
