I think it was a situation where the throw took the catcher up the line and the runner had nowhere to go.

I think it was a bad call to take the run away...but whatever.

I do agree that taking the run away is a bad call.

I do think that it is entirely possible he was gonig to slide behind Lucriy as the throw took him towards the dugout on the 3rd base side. Instead, Lucroy stops inside the line instantly and it was too late for Marisnic to do anything other than what he did.

I don't think you're getting some of my tongue-in-cheek phrases. I'm not gonna throw a snowball at you.

Of course none of us can truly know Marisnick's intention there, but that hard pivot to the left like that was odd. I'm guessing a majority of players are gonna go wide to the right and try to swoop around and tag home with their hand. It looked suspect to me that he changed directions that quickly. Not sure if he has ups, but he could've even considered leaping over him as we've seen many do in the past, but I understand it's a quick decision in the moment. I'm perfectly fine with them taking the run away.

Here it is broken down .... I don't see how you think the catcher is going to get pulled over the line by the throw. Catcher's try to set a position, catch the ball if it's thrown into their zone, the apply the tag. A catcher isn't going to go with the momentum of the ball and let it carry them across the foul line ... that would be absurd.

Man, if only Marisnic had seen it playing out frame by frame as he ran down the line. You can see Lucry move into the contact by going back towards the 1st base side of the play. If he stays where he was towards the 3rd base side then he doesn't take a shoulder to the face. Also, if he does what you said and tried to jump over Lucroy and then accidentally knees him straight in the noggin and knocks him out people are still going to be crying "dirty play". It's a collision. This wasn't like the Utley slide or anything Machado does on the field. If Lucroy doesn't lunge back to his right 2 feet he doesn't get ran over and almost break his neck.

I can play the frame by frame game, too.

Marisnic is already trying to get by Lucroy on the first base side of the plate after Lucroy is playing up the 3rd base line.

Now Lucroy moves 2 feet to his right and gets right in front of Marisnic. Marisnic has no possible way to avoid running Lucroy over. If Lucroy doesn't shuffle over to take the charging call then he can try to apply the tag as Marisnic slides headfirst to try and avoid the swipe.

No one's playing a game. Now you're just being smarmy. Of course, he doesn't see it frame by frame, but this gives an idea of what he was seeing as the play developed.

All I'm saying is that I think most runners are going to consider going to their right or possibly over, if they think they have the jumping skills. It's absurd to think that Lucroy is gonna make the play by going directly from the fair side of play into the foul side of play ... it takes longer for the ball to get there and the angle is all wrong.

                  I'm done.

All I'll say is the above frames I posted show Marisnic was cutting back inside before Lucroy was ever there. I'm not going to call the play dirty at all because it doesn't look malicious to me. People are only up in arms because Lucroy took a big hit. All I see is a collision at the plate that used to happen regularly at the plate, but has been removed due to overreaction because a star player in Posey broke his leg.<br>

Marisnick deviated from his path to hit Lucroy.

He deserved to be called out was rightfully done so

You can see just a couple posts above that Marisnic actually statted to cut back inside before Lucroy was ever there. Lucroy is the one who actually moved back towards Marisnic and caused the contact. The play is fine and people should calm down.
