I think that game pretty much summed up the problems the Cubs are having. Offense can't sustain much, flailing around waiting for the homer. Starter limited by some nagging injuries (probably) only goes 5 IP. Bullpen is erratic and cannot hold a lead.

I think that game pretty much summed up the problems the Cubs are having. Offense can't sustain much, flailing around waiting for the homer. Starter limited by some nagging injuries (probably) only goes 5 IP. Bullpen is erratic and cannot hold a lead.

Cubs are in a bad spot. STL I think is gonna get hot as Goldy heats up and MIL ain't going anywhere.

Really curious what deadline deals they make.

as bad as the bullpen is going to get for this. This is on largely the core offense. 2nd Year in a row they just can't hit MIL below average starters. Gio is fine/Averagish but you shouldn't be not hit by him for the majority of the game. I've been largely a proponent of getting Castellanos because this offense really needs another impact but with how Strop is going they need to get an impact reliever probably just as bad now. Giles would be my guy.

In the division they are still fine this is going to go to the end. I'm not sweating being 1 GB. Also eventually the one run games are going even out the other way. 1-4 stretch with most of the losses coming late SMH.

What a poor investment he turned out to be. It's looking like the Chatwood signing might actually be a better one in the final analysis!

I like him! Joe needs to give him a legit try in high leverage situations because otherwise you are going to overuse Cishek/Kintzler. Cishek is probably already overworked lol.

Yeah at least they have already said they aren't counting on him so we don't have to go through that again.

Let the pitchers use tar(or an alternative) already. We're so concerned about fan safety, but more serious injuries occur from hit batsmen than foul balls.
