It's a terrible broadcast team.

Re: 7/22 - 8/4 Game Discussion Thread
This is the key, imo. He's not really getting on base anyway, so why not turn some of those solo homers into 2-run and 3-run shots? Schwarber is a run-producer (when he hits at all), not a table-setter. He does see enough pitches to be a decent #8 hitter in the NL.
Ian Happ in ultimate 3 true outcomes form today with 3 BBs and a backwards K.
You know what would make this game feel even better? If the Cubs would stop blowing leads and losing series.
agreed on the last part though. They should've been up 1 or 2 games.Last edited by BleacherBum2310; 07-28-2019, 07:33 PM.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

I don't mind Matty V and A-Rod. I think if it was just them, the commentary would be 1000 times better. But they have to let her giggle and say something about the game and try to pretend like she's speaking something intelligent.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 7/22 - 8/4 Game Discussion Thread
Gosh I should just put this game on mute....
A-Rod saying Gio Urshela plays "all-world defense" while he's below average according to pretty much every metric. Also says its rare to see Xander Bogaerts misplay a ball when Xander has the worst DRS (-15) among all qualified shortstops.
I don't need them to force sabermetrics into every broadcast or anything, but just don't say things that are clearly wrong according to the data.Chicago Cubs

Put Matty and Pedro in the booth. I can listen Pedro talk baseball all day.

You need to post the video to do it justice. The 2B flinched, thinking he was about to get cheapshotted. 🤣

Re: 7/22 - 8/4 Game Discussion Thread
Someone on MLB Network Radio, Jeff Joyce, on their Saturday afternoon show tied the presence of a strike zone box as a reason why people think the umpiring has gotten even worse.
People see the box which is not official in any way and they think or are conditioned to think that is what the strike zone is and when they see something a bit out or off they think it's not a strike or it is a strike or whatever. He was saying that it plants doubts of incompetence and inaccuracy, basically undermining the legitimacy of the umpires (such as they supposedly have, anyway) and they start to think it's worse than it is.
Its an interesting observation for sure. I absolutely cannot stand the overlay from an aesthetic standpoint and I think it should be removed from all broadcasts. Not only does it skew our perceptions but it's an eyesore and we often times can't even tell where the pitch comes in. Coupled with the catchers flopping and I think that's got quite a bit of truth to it.
Dude was my hero for saying this. Check it out if you have MLB Network Radio on demand. It starts on the Saturday "Home Plate" show starting around 1 hour and 55 minutes into the show.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 07-29-2019, 01:59 AM.Comment

Also I love Lindor's reaction. Just sort of watches the ball sail over the fence thinking "wow. that's far. did you really just throw it that far?"Chicago Cubs

The best reaction is from the center fielder, who had his back turned when the ball was thrown.Comment
