Position player Roman Quinn gave up a hit to pitcher-in-LF Vince Velazquez who threw a runner out at home.

    That was pretty cool.

Then AL relief pitcher Carson Fulmer almost gets a clutch knock off of NL position player Roman Quinn with a pitcher in left....but Maikel Franco with a great play to save the game there.

Oh my Velazquez almost did it again. It didn't look like there was even gonna be a play there but that throw was right on the money

EDIT: wow he comes up with a nice play right after that. Baseball is fun

          Thin air, how's that?

Speaking of which, does the thinner air also help fastball speed on the radar? Does it only track initial velocity, or final velocity? That fan that we were talking about in the OT thread did hit 96 MPH at Coors Field, crow hop and all... I wonder if that helps add a mile per hour or so on the gun.

Speaking of the future and an uncertain one at that, I'm not sure that I can fault Kapler for the Phils loss last night as Alvarez continues to show of his incapability in high leverage situations. Wait, yes I can. You have to manage the moment and with Zach Eflin on the mound and having the ability to go multiple innings in extra innings (meaning, more than 2) he pulls him for a PR who happens to also be a SP, then is forced (I guess) to put CF'er Roman Quinn in to pitch, who really didn't do any worse than Alvarez. Yes, it took some dazzling plays by the Phils new LF'er Vince Velasquez, but they never should have been in that position after squandering scoring opportunities in the 7th and 8th coupled with Alvarez's botched save with 1 strike to go in a pitcher's count in the 9th. But Kapler has to manage to the situation and keep Eflin in to run, especially with 2 outs, then continue on the mound if necessary knowing what he knows about the bullpen.

Maybe Eflin was feeling "heavy" again, dunno.

Speaking of Quinn, he decides to keep switch hitting and hits his first career HR from the left side which happens to be a monster shot into the 2nd deck. Don't like the term "juiced"? How about enhanced, ameliorated, amended, bettered, enriched, helped, improved, meliorated, perfected, refined or upgraded? Take your pick. Something's up.

I saw that and still can't believe it.

That "injury" looked a hell of a lot worse than just a sprained ankle.

Glad for him that is all it turned out to be.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Obviously a tiny sample size but I may have been wrong about Nick Castellanos. His bat fits in very well with this lineup

I really don't care about the juiced balls that much either. But I do wish they would move the fences back.

On another note. I guess that means any pitcher with a ERA under 3 in this climate are gods.
