The FA list is getting real thin now

    There's only two top-flight FA's left:

    Carlos Delgado, Maggie Ordonez

The best of the rest are:

Tony Batista, Danny Bautista, Jeromy Burnitz, Alex Cora, Shawn Estes, Brad Fullmer, Juan Gonzalez, Brian Jordan, Barry Larkin, Jim Mecir, Hideo Nomo, John Olerud, Antonio Osuna, Aaron Sele, Steve Sparks, Scott Williamson, and
    Scott Schoeneweis.

Looking around the league these clubs have done next to nothing in terms of FA's or trades:

    - Baltimore, Chicago Cubs, Colorado, Detroit, Houston, Minnesota, San Diego, and Texas.

I think Tony Batista joined a Japan league.

I read one report that said he siged a 15mil/2yr deal with a Japan club but nobody else is reporting it. Besides that contract seems very unrealistic.

Rotoworld reported it via the A.P.

Tony Batista reportedly will sign with a Fukuoka Hawks of Japan for $15 million over two years.
Way to go, Tony. He certainly wasn't going to get that kind of money in MLB. He made just $1.5 million last season.

Wow, Batista got 2 years @ $15 mil? Damn.

Anyway, I'd love to see the Braves sign Ordonez, but his health is a serious concern. I heard he went to Europe to have a type of surgery not yet approved in the states. Major red flag. Plus Bora$ is his agent, so you know he's gonna go to the highest bidder.

Other than that, the only guy who really interests me is Juan-Gone, but you don't really know what you might get from him. He put up some nice numbers in winter ball, though. Maybe a spring training invite, or a low money guaranteed deal.

I bet he's gotta be kicking himself for turning down that huge offer from the Tigers a few years back....

I would LOVE to have Magglio. I'd love to have him in a Braves uniform. Loved the kid ever since before he got traded to the Sox. His injuries are a bit alarming, however, I'd be willing to take the risk. It's better than getting Brian Jordan.

Any chance we can sign him at 6 or 7 or so per year?

Batista signed a 2 yr/10 million dollar deal with a 5 million dollar signing bonus. It's a little high, but I can't blame him for taking that. No team in MLB was going to give him that type money.

Atlanta should stay away from Maggs and JuanGone. They both are huge injury risks, and are probably going to command more than what a team like ATL should make.

Plus, word is that Cleveland is close to signing Gonzalez to a minor league deal.

Surgery not approved in the US...kind of like when Tom Cruise gets his eyes transplanted in Minority Report by some street surgeon?!? Definitely a little sketchy, but I hope he can get back to his prime and be that fearsome hitter again. I think I'll be adopting your spelling of "Bora$" btw BraveWayne.
