You obviously have a great understanding of how important the 2003 season was to Cubs fans seeing as you live in New York, a city that has won 32 championships in the time since we won our last one... so while we may be losers, Hendry is doing things for the Cubs that haven't been done in quite a while. Point being that big strides are being taken to get the Cubs there, and quite frankly, I don't want them to go out and get people like Beltran and stack their team like the Evil Empire with their $200+ million team salary. We have a damn good team this year, and barring a late collapse (ala this past year), we should get to the playoffs, and since we still have 4 aces on this staff, getting to the playoffs is all we should need.

I don't really hate Hendry, I'm just ticked off, as usual. And I really hope the Cubs don't think they're going to be playoff contenders with that outfield. The Cardinals will win the central, and if not Houston will, Los Angeles or San Francisco will win the west as usual, and Atlanta will win the east followed by the Mets or Marlins. There's no room for the Cubs in the wild card. They'll be .550 at best with the lineup they have. By the way, what's the latest on my favorite pitcher of all times, Kyle Farnsworth? Gee, I really hope he's still there next year and while I'm at it...who the crap is the closer? Hawkins...HAHAHAHAHA...this just gets better the more I think about it. I hope Hendry enjoyed the Colts game he was at last week because he's going to have hell to pay when the Cubs lose 90 games this year.

You really think were gonna lose 90 games? We have probably the best infield and starting pitching staff in the NL. Corey is not a bad player, and if you honestly think our outfield is THAT bad, you dont know what you are saying. Sosa will likely be gone and Magglio will likely take his place. An outfield of Ordonez, Patterson and Hollandsworth(or Sosa, depending on how Magglio fits in) is nothing to cry about. The only reason we didnt win the NL is because of underachievement, period. The Cubs have a great team this year, just because they didn't improve last year's team, doesn't mean they'll lose 90 games. Our biggest problem right now is the bullpen, not the outfield.

Well either way, there's really no reason the Cardinals shouldn't run away with the central again. Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Walker...that's an unbelievable lineup to get through 3-5 times a game. And now that they added Mulder, that's pretty much a guaranteed win every 5 games. The Cubs can have Prior or Wood throw 6 shutout innings but then the bullpen will give up 3 or 4. And of course our bats will go silent and are so inconsistent its hard to know what to expect. Just look at Clement. You could argue to say that Clement should have had the most wins last year on the Cubs but the team put up about 1 run per game for him. And as for Sosa, I'd be suprised if he goes anywhere. I think Hendry going to watch the Colts game last weekend summed up the Cubs offseason and what was really his priority.
