MLB 2020 Predictions

AL East - The Evil Empire / AL East Wild Card Contender - I give a slight nod to Tampa, though I'm not entirely ready to write Boston off before ST even begins.

AL Central - Twinkies. I didn't think they were ready for prime-time last season, and boy, did they show me something.
AL Central Wild Card Contender - my heart says Pale Hose, my head says Cleveland. I'll go with my head, just this once.




AL West - I hate picking an LA team but these Angels might just be holier than thou.
AL West Wild Card Contender - Texas. I think moving indoors and out of the heat is just what the doctor ordered. not gonna sleep on Houston though. this might not be the 90's Dusty but if only Nixon could go to China, only an old Dodger can give the Asstros dignity.




NL East - it's gonna be a Philadelphia story, and I hate picking the Phillies as much as I hate picking LA.
NL East Wild Card Contender - Braves, 'nuff said... except I'll say more... I hope an NL East Wild Card team in 2020 has as much playoff success as the 2019 NL East Wild Card team.




NL Central - division is wide open so it'll be easier to say who ain't marching to October: Pittsburgh.




NL West - another ******* team from LA
NL West Wild Card Contender - I'm gonna go out on a limb and write Colorado Arizona San Diego & San Francisco off... before ST even begins

I'm still waiting to see where Arenado, Lindor and Betts land. If anywhere. But currently constructed....

I'm gonna do two parts I'm gonna do the AL first.

AL East- Yankees.

Yea I'm a Yankees fan, but this team is just absolutely loaded in every area. They were injury ridden all 2019 and still won 103 games. Gerrit Cole was the frontline ace that was desperately needed. Andujar returns. German will be back later in the year. I expect this team to win 110 plus. Yes really.

AL Central- White Sox

White Sox will be exciting, that lineup will be fun. Luis Robert might be the best prospect in baseball. Even though their staff isn't amazing. I think they have enough to get it done. Especially if Rodon returns mid season and Kopech stays healthy, to give them a lift. That lineup is dangerous.

Indians and Twins will be right there. Should be a real close race. But I expect the Twins to regress.

AL West. Astros. Hate to say it. Angels are exciting on paper. But I don't think they have the arms to dethrone Houston. Neither does Oakland. Texas is an interesting case. It could be a close race.

AL wildcard 1st- Rays. This is a great young team that got even better. They are loaded with talent. Wander Franco is MLB ready. The pitching is strong up and down. Renfroe could be the power guy they needed. They should be tough to beat.

2nd AL Wildcard. Cleveland. This is kind of a question mark for me. I'm inclined to go with Minnesota because of Lindor. But I love the pitching staff. The lineup would still be solid with or without Lindor. I'm sticking with the Indians.

The red sox would be a wild card pick imo but it all rides on Betts. If he stays then I would be remiss to not include then in the 1st or second wild card running.

National League.

NL East: Mets.

This division is as wide open as it gets. Braves and Nationals could easily win it. Phillies are right there. I just feel like the Mets additions to the rotation slightly put them over the edge, and I mean slightly. Although the other three contenders probably have better lineups.



Still, Braves(lost Donaldson) and Nationals(lost Rendon) two pretty big blows to the lineup. Both got worse imo. Phillies don't have the rotation to get them over the top. Mets steal the division.

Marlins should just quit baseball.

NL Central- Cardinals

Pretty wide open division as well. Cubs stayed stagnant. Reds made alot of noise in the offseason adding (Castellanos and Moose) that lineup is gonna mash. I just think they are a few pieces away from winning the division, noticeably in the bullpen and they need one more arm in that rotation.

Cardinals just scream consistency to me.

NL West- Dodgers. Duh

Easily the best team in the West and they got Betts. Man. That's all I got to say.

Padres are definitely trending up upwards. Should be a fun team to watch. Tatis will be a superstar. Just not enough to dethrone LA. They will battle for second with upstart Arizona all year long.

NL first wildcard- Braves. That black hole bullpen got better. The lineup got a little worse. Still they are playing playoff baseball in Atlanta in 2020.

2nd NL wildcard- The Reds sneak in over the Nats and finally return to the playoffs, rewarded for their aggressive offseason.

Predictions sure to be wrong:
American League
Yankees, Indians and Astros winning their divisions with Oakland and Rays being the wild card teams.

Oakland win the WC match then get swept by the Yankees. Astros beat Indians in a close series.

Yankees beat Astros in 6 games.

National League
Nationals, Cardinals and Dodgers are division champs. Reds and Braves are in the WC. Braves win to be knocked out by the Dodgers. Cardinals lose to the Nationals.

Dodgers beat the Nationals only losing twice in the post season.

Yankees beat Dodgers in 6.

yeah, I predict nobody wins a hundred games this year and the Cy Young award is cancelled and the winner gets the King Felix award this year instead. also when the Astr*s win the World Series, they get double asterisked. if the Blue Jays win the World Series, they hold their parade in Buffalo or Timbuktu or wherever they wind up playing. Mike Trout winds up batting .400, if he plays. and somewhere, someone who opted out is gonna wanna opt back in when their team starts looking like real contenders. and safe at home is gonna take on a whole new meaning this season.
