    I thought Miller had some kind of arm problem and wanted a big contract anyways so the astros let him go, and the Red Sox got him cheap because of this.

      I thought Miller had some kind of arm problem and wanted a big contract anyways so the astros let him go, and the Red Sox got him cheap because of this.

        Yep Miller had surgery. In fact he might not even pitch til halfway through the season. So basically Miller is a low risk signing at 1.5 mil.

            The Astros were saying his labrum was frayed (similar to Pedro's injury). Houston was thinking he could miss significant time, but due to the fact Boston was interested in trading for him they had already had their doctors examine him. Their conclusion was, that while hurt, he would be able to pitch early next season, while maybe being ready for Opening Day. Because they had previously obtained this info, they were able to swoop in and sign him as soon as he was cut loose. This could turn out to be the steal of the offseason.
