DH or no DH?
I was wondering what you guys think of the DH in the American League. I think they should get rid of it and make the pitchers bat for themselves. It brings more strategy into the game. It will also force those guys who only play DH because they can't field actually have to go out and learn to field or dont' play. Post if you if you are in favor or opposed to the DH.Tags: None -

Re: DH or no DH?
I don't like the DH either. My philosophy is that the pitcher is part of the game just like the other eight players on the field. Therefore the pitcher should be required to bat. Just my opinion though, cause it is a very contoversial issue in baseball.Comment

Re: DH or no DH?
I've always heldfast to my theory that there should be a reverse-DH, a Designated Fielder if you will. That way, the DF could play short stop, let's say, and you could have Giambi hitting as the shortstop, but not actually having to field the position.
Of course, I like this idea because it means I'd be in the pros right now. I've never met someone that can touch my glove, but the fact that I can't hit a baseball with a big red whiffleball bat is kinda holding me down. That and I smell.Comment

Re: DH or no DH?
Absolutely no DH. Like someone said, it adds a new dimension and strategy to the game, it might tone down the offensive numbers also.Comment

Re: DH or no DH?
I hate the DH for all the reasons that have already been listed. Not to mention the fact that it takes nearly all the strategy out of the game as far as managing is concerned...
Will, why don't you like the blue line in hockey?? If anything, the red line is more of a problem.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Re: DH or no DH?
I hate the DH rule, but I think that American league should keep it, because it's a good way to distinguish the leagues. Plus, when the American's come into the National league they get whooped on.Comment

Re: DH or no DH?
I agree. I like how there is something major that seperates the leagues. It changes the game in a big way and makes things like interleague, all-star games, and the world series special. Overall, though i hate the DH and enjoy the more pure "small ball" games that the NL produces.Comment

Re: DH or no DH?
I'm not a big fan of the DH. But I like that the leagues do it different. Kind of ironic that I like the American Leauge more than the National, but hate the DH. I guess its just the players.University of Evansville Graduate

Re: DH or no DH?
I don't mind the DH. Having the pitcher bat means that a pitcher often gets taken out before he's "done"; it also results in potentially exciting situations being lame (early innings, bases loaded, 2 out, and up steps the pitcher...)
At the same time, it's fun to see some pitchers (especially ones traded from the AL) try to hit and run the bases.Comment
