Carlos Delgado Will Be A Ranger ?

I am a huge Mets fan. And as much as I like the Mets I think he will sign with Texas. I really don' think the Met's want to give him a four year deal. He would be 40. I also think Tom Hicks really wants him. We all know th Rangers have money. ARod, Chan Ho Park. He could be sold on the fact that he could DH in the latter years of his contract and the fact there is know state income tax. That being said you can't bet against the Mets based on this off season. The Marlins are atractive as well. Good team hot weather. I do not think either team is better then the Mets if they had Delgado. Marlins lost Pravano and don't have a closer. Texas has no starting pitching. Met's only negitive is no depth in pen. He could make more money in andorsements in New York. We shall see?

        32 now, after a 4 yr deal - 36, not 40...

I also want to see him play in TX just for the fact that i'll see him hitting homeruns almost nightly starting in June. He just loves hitting the ball at Arlington.

I don't mind him in a Mets uni either but that would mean having to pay attention to them which I think might be a bad thing as I have a funny feeling that after all these moves the Mets will underachieve.

LOL I remember the Bonilla, Saberhagen, Coleman days vividly. The Mets were so hyped up as a virtual all-star team. Sadly it was an all-star team of washed up 80s stars. I also remember when they were grooming their pitching staff like they did in the 60s but all of them fell apart for some reason or other. It would've been interesting if they had panned out.

Actually it seems everytime a team tries to build up a staff with homegrown talent that it never works out. At least in recent times that is. I remembered the Blue Jays tried that and the only guy on the staff of Halladay, Carpenter, Escobar that really succeeded in his career is Halladay. Believe it or not Chris Carpenter was the one that had the most hype!

Beltran wants to play for a team that will realistically have a shot at a Championship in the next few years..

Also, I don't think he would want to share time at 1B, as the Rangers already have a promising first baseman in Mark Teixeira.
