Re: Carlos Delgado Will Be A Ranger ?
Originally posted by ZB9Why is Texas interested in Delgado? They already have Tiexera and promising Adrian Gonzalez.
IMO, they should just save their money for the time that Tiexera's contract comes up and pay him.
Teixeira has two years left on his contract, when his contract is up Chan Ho Park's contract will also be over, in theory the Rangers could take the money they will no longer be paying Park and put towards re-signing Teixeira. But should they not be able to re-sign him, having Delgado will make it easier for them to part with Teixeira.
As for Adrian Gonzalez, i'm not sure we will ever see him be a regular in the Rangers lineup, i have a feeling that should they sign Delgado if they are in any kind of playoff race at mid-season, they may trade Gonzalez for pitching (or knowing Texas another bat).
Either way, i would not expect to see Gonzalez unless they suffer some injury's. If they Rangers do not sign Delgado then we will probably see a Kevin Mench/David Dellucci/Greg Colbrunn DH situation.Comment

The New York Daily News is reporting that the Orioles have offered Carlos Delgado a deal worth more than $48 million over four years.
This conflicts with everything that has come out of Baltimore lately. If it's true, it still hardly means that the Orioles are the favorites to sign him. Even if he would prefer to stay in the AL, Texas would seem to be a better situation for him.

Originally posted by NY Daily NewsThe Orioles became the latest team to get Delgado's attention, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations, making a four-year offer yesterday for more than $12 million a year, more than any other team has offered.
Looks like someone has re-entered the bidding, finally.Comment

Re: Carlos Delgado Will Be A Ranger ?
Finally B&A are starting to act alive. If we get Delgado and maybe trade for Javier Vasquez I think we can save face for all the hype leading to this offseason.
