Good signing. He's not gonna light the world on fire or anything but he could be solid this year.

Words can't even begin to describe how terrible he was with the M's.
After his monster 2001 season, his OBP has been .305, .325, and .314. His OPS has been .718, .735, and .667
Besides, his numbers from last season improved after he joined the Padres. Like Sportsman said it's a low risk signing, if he doesn't produce they can always let him go.Comment

Re: Aurilia signs minor league contract with Reds
I'm actually pleased with the Reds' off-season moves this year. Instead of doing what they usually do during the off-season (nothing), they have actually gotten involved in the free-agent market. They re-signed Paul Wilson, Adam Dunn, and Kearns, and picked up Wright, Ortiz, and Aurilia.
They picked up 2 of the positions we need most, shortstop and starting pitching. While I don't think they will make a playoff run this year, I am optimistic that they will finish .500 or better. I really like what O'Brian is doing with this team.
Now all we need to do is trade Griffey for some starting pitching and we'll be set.
Clemson Tigers
Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati Bearcats

I also agree about Griffey, it breaks my heart because he's my favorite player of all-time, especially since he came to Cincy, but they need pitching and that would make room for Wily Mo Pena. Don't think they're gonna be able to pawn him off on anyone though.Comment

I think we are more likely to see Austin Kearns traded to make room for Pena in the OF.Comment
