I don't know. Franco signed with the Astros for $400k. I can't believe we were that ****ing cheap for someone so dedicated to the organization. That's up there with trading Ewing away for overpriced ****.

well it was $700k he for signed for, and Im glad his gone, his days are way behinde him. I just couldn't take another year with Franco trying to pitch anymore.

Well, quite honestly, Franco isn't what he used to be. Yes, he HAS BEEN loyal... but damn it, he's still a big reason we lost to the Braves in the Wild card back in... what was it, '98? Frankly the only positive thing I remember he did was strike out Posada this year at Shea with the game on the line. Aside from that... geez! What else was this guy good for aside from blowing leads in the past 5 years?

He's isn't the same pitcher he was. We're better off using that money elsewhere.

Just because a player can't tell it's time to call it quits does NOT mean an organization should continue to sign him. Same exact thing with Ewing... loyal, but damn it, he wasn't effective at all, and only hurt the team.

You have to know when to retire, and if you can't figure it out, you shouldn't have any ill will towards a team for deciding to go in another direction.

you're not referring to the "ball four" kenny rogers game, pared, are you? lol.. I also think there was an underlying reason why Franco was let go - he was last year brought up in some mobster's trial (giving free tix).. maybe the Mets didnt want the stigma.. but he is done.. he's not more than a one -batter pitcher at this point, if that..

I also think there was an underlying reason why Franco was let go - he was last year brought up in some mobster's trial (giving free tix).. maybe the Mets didnt want the stigma.. but he is done.. he's not more than a one -batter pitcher at this point, if that..

That's EXACTLY the game... the Mets had such a huge comeback, only to let Franco blow another one!!

I'm still pissed about it!! Those runs he gave up were more important than Roger's.... We would have never got to that point if it weren't for Franco!

I remember screaming at all my fellow Mets fans that we were doomed that inning... it was the 8th, IIRC...
