        Re: Raffy denies Roid Use

The scariest thing is that Jose could be telling the honest-to-God's truth here.

Giambi has already admitted to shooting up in the past. Canseco and Caminiti also did the same shortly after their playing careers were over. That is three players who were stars of their generation.

Almost all of us have convicted Bonds in the court of public opinion. Just how inconceivable is it that the likes of Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Palmeiro, and McGwire were using given the names that we already know?

How can we as the public judge Bonds as guilty, but not do the same to those like McGwire and Palmeiro? How are illegally leaked court documents printed by the San Francisco Chronicle any less or more reliable than someone like Jose Canseco? We have not seen the actual court documents ourself, for all we know, what was purported as being said under oath could be a complete fabrication.

The true answer is, we honestly do not know. And I doubt that we ever will. We don't know who those 5-7% of MLB players last years who tested positive where. We will likely never see what actually happened behind closed doors when Giambi, Bonds, Conte, and Anderson testified to the grand jury. We'll never know what happened during the late 80s in the Oakland lockerroom and years later in the Texas lockerroom. As of right now, any and all accusations are just extreme hearsay.

On Around The Horn today, Jay Mariotti said, "I don't want to believe what Canseco has said, but it's really hard for me not to."

        And I agree completely.

That was well said. I agree with Jay Mariotti as well, it is hard not to believe Canseco.

Would anyone be shocked by anything....really? There have been guys of slighter stature than Palmeiro who have tested positive for steroids.

That brings to mind Brady Andersons stature, and him out of nowhere hitting 52 or so bombs.

while no doubt there are players that have or are using steriods, Canseco a) has been talking about this book for YEARS, & b) he's upset w/ MLB cause he feels that he has been blackballed from the league - that he hasnt gotten his 500 hr & that caused him to miss out on the hall of fame.. so while there is a problem w/ steriods, i think this was done out of spite & revenge.

But the reason you think he did it for, does not dismiss the validity of his claim.

More and more people out there are beginning to beleive this mans bold claims.

In the end, time will tell.
