    Barry Larkin retires

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1990846

He joins the Nationals as an special assisant.

Of course the question that pops up is, does Larkin belong in the Hof? Well here's my thoughts on that question.

I'll miss Larkin, I think he was a great player and he always played hard in my book.

Larkin is not in the Reds organization because he made an *** out of himself the last few years he was in Cincy, and he burnt a lot of bridges. Larkin is a perfect example of someone who truely thought he was bigger than the game, and he's going to pay for it in the long run. The only reason he's with the Nationals is because Jim Bowden is the GM. Bowden's exit from Cincy was not exactly voluntary, and I'm sure he feels adding Larkin is getting back at the Red's in some way or another. The Red's are a lot better off without Larkin and his ego at this point in time.....and I really am sorry to say that.
