Montoyo after Fridays game spent part of his press conference watching his sons graduation.

I'm partially surprised he didnt just get thrown out of the game to get to the lockerroom faster.

That pointless delay probably angered him the most. Could've just called it right away instead of dragging things out for 30 minutes.

What a weird start to Jays vs Cleveland. That'll 100% be on the May blooper reel.

Shallow pop fly between 1B and RF. RF runs in, 1B runs out, 2B runs there too. All guys going, nobody calls for the ball, so nobody bothers to catch it, and the ball just drops between all 3 of them.

Jays win gm1 of the doubleheader.

They're now 4-2 in 7 inning games this season.

Snell might be the worst former Cy Young award winner ever to pitch. How the hell did he win one when he consistently pitches scared? 80 pitches in three innings. Every single game.

Any particular reason he didn't actually go? Alex Cora went to his daughter's graduation on Saturday.

Wouldn't be a day that ends in Y without another postponed/suspended game.

The Mets now have three double headers in a seven day stretch in June, but the 7 inning games tend to benefit them so I’ll take it

                  Rob Manfred must be happy.

Wonder what all these fans and writers and stuff are doing with all this extra free time with the artificially truncated games?

I know I'm doing other stuff. Haven't watched baseball intently in days. Entire slates are one big who cares for me. Completely pointless and zero juice.

Oh but hey who needs baseball lifers evangelizing the sport to friends who may not watch when you've got all these new fans coming in and becoming diehards due to all the new tweaks and stuff anyway.

I don’t think there are as many baseball “lifers” who feel the same as you in regards to not watching the sport due to a few tweaks and changes to the rules.

And I would imagine fans, writers, and staff are doing the same things they’ve always done when the game is done for the day whether it end after 7, 9, or however many innings.

Cardinals and Dodgers begin their series tonight in Los Angeles. Jack Flaherty vs Trevor Bauer tonight.

                      Let’s go Cards!

I just don't know what new fanbase they're bringing in. I can't think of a single soul that is now watching the sport because "Herp derp pace of play."

I would imagine its the same new fans they have been bringing in for years upon years. Those who are friends/family of those who are baseball fans.

My 5 year old son is a baseball fanatic just like his old man. New fan. Going to the Little League park for games/practice and hearing the kids talk about how they are going to hit like player x and that they like this team because of whatever the reason may be.

                          All new fans.

My ex-wife and step daughter, never went to baseball games or even watched until I entered their life. Now they go to games, primarily with my son and I, and watch baseball on tv with us.

Rules and the concept of the game will continue to change, but that will never chase away the extremely vast majority of the fans.

You're describing the natural fan growth that nobody doubts. That's always happened with all sports no matter what.

What fans are being brought it in because of the new rule changes and tweaks to the game. Anecdotal, but I also know of not one soul that has become a fan because of the changes, but I know of multiple that watch less baseball because of them. Goes in line with the complaints that are seen here and other forms of social media.

Friends and family of baseball fans won't be coming in if the baseball fans that exist don't feel the same love and importance and prestige for what they're watching and therefore....stop watching. My nieces and nephews will not be taken to games, will not see it on TV and grow to love it like I did, etc with this **** in place. But again, how many baseball fans can say they actually just loved the sport as first generation children of immigrants from countries that have less-than-zero exposure to or love for baseball? There's 3 in my family at least. One stopped watching a while ago. One doesn't watch regularly anymore. And I'm....getting there.

They must have many of us to spare. Ultimately I'm just a statistic. I have no delusions about my relevance. But I've brought in more fans to the sport over the years than these rules and approaches have and that's for sure. Spoke baseball with a buddy's brother, talked up players and awesome plays and this and that and I've gone with him to watch in person since. I always talk about baseball with coworkers/friends who are decidedly not baseball fans and we went to a baseball company outing before Corona. Just Saturday I sat with a friend and told him about Shohei Ohtani and how rare he is, and name dropped Babe Ruth because everyone even non-baseball people know that name. My dad who barely knows English let alone ****in' watches baseball loves watching the playoffs and I sit with him and explain what's happening if he has questions.

You have to have evangelists on the ground, especially if the league and writers and fans and whoever else just spend every waking moment ****ting on the sport and what's wrong with it and what needs changing and this and that. And I'm not gonna promote **** if I'm getting angry with it myself.

If the vast majority can live with the changes to the sport that are literally Anti-Baseball, that's on them to keep watching whatever sport they are cool with watching. Maybe they don't even realize why. Can't help that I guess.

Many people stopped during the strike. Many people stopped after the steroids. Many will stop with these repeatedly self-induced nonsensical structural implosions.

I guess the cycle keeps going and there's always something.
