I'm pretty sure that he did have some kind of extension on his helmet, but the ball looked to hit him dead on. Hopefully the extended piece of the helmet got a piece of it at least. It was hard to tell in live action, and I don't think anyone wants to watch that one in slow motion.

He did tweet out tonight that he was doing fine. Thankfully it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.

He doesn’t wear the helmet you’re referring to, which is surprising because he got hit in the jaw in 2019. I’m not sure there is much you can do to protect a player from getting hit in the nose without affecting his vision.

While multiple nasal fractures doesn’t sound like fun, I’m glad it’s not worse.

Cardinals get a quick 2 game series with the Pirates tonight and tomorrow and then a 3 game weekend series with the Cubs in St.Louis.

Win both against the Pirates and an opportunity to put some more distance between them and the Cubs this weekend.

Tony La Russa was 'upset' that Yermin Mercedes hit a home run on a 3-0 count last night in a blowout win.

I get some of the unwritten rules like never bunt to break up a no no or perfect game. I get not running across the pitchers mound. I will never ever understand anyone getting mad at a batter swinging in any situation. I don't care if it is 50-0. Swing away.

If it’s a blowout, you would think they’d want batters swinging as often as possible to speed things up

The Mets 7,8, 9 hitters have a combined zero career hits, and two of their bench players have never had a major league hit

I'm confused. Based on what we see all the time with the Braves pitchers, when you issue a leadoff walk then you get punished.

When the Braves get a lead off walk, the next 3 batters all strike out. I thought it was automatic that you got to score with a leadoff walk???

edit - And another leadoff walk the next inning with 3, 4 & 5 in the lineup not doing anything.

This may be the worst Braves team of the 2000's. They definitely give the Gonzalez teams a run for their money. This team is much more frustrating given the supposed talent on the roster.

Must suck to be Austin Riley. The Braves offense the last two years is great and he's the weak link. Now he has it all coming together and he looks like a stud at the plate like projected and this "elite" offense is complete garbage.

I’m quickly beginning to dread every time Riley comes to the plate, it looks like he’s going to follow in the footsteps of Freeman and Chipper the way he’s abusing the Mets
