Not a single person in this thread tried to say it was as bad as those decades. You're who brought that up. What was said is that area around the stadium is rough and that much is true. A shooting happening in SE DC is not surprising at all.

I stated in my post that there is public housing in that area, again there is in a lot of areas of DC, but y'all on some dumb stuff.

Plenty of reasons for me to state my objection to what was being implied.

Shootings and violence happen in every part of America and that city. That stadium has been there since 2008 without many incidents. It has helped spur a lot of growth and development in that area, but let's ignore all that to cast disparages and go with conjecture.

You're seriously stretching what has been said in this thread. I get it, you love DC and don't like seeing people talk bad about the city. My family is from DC. Everyone knows SE DC has a higher crime rate and a shooting over there isn't all that surprising.

Let's stop acting like people are calling SE DC a worse place than Chiraq or any other high crime area. Everyone knows all of these metro areas have some rough places. That's not being denied. What's being said is SE DC is one of these rougher areas and the crime statistics show that.

Again, a shooting happening there isn't something out of the ordinary. That's all that's been said.

Again, you're grossly exaggerating what's been said. I never said you can't go into SE DC without Kevlar and a helmet and you need to fear for your life. All that has literally been said is that that is a rougher area of DC.

Jays and Rangers had a doubleheader today.

Jays shut out the Rangers. In game 1 or 2? Answer is both.

Now 6 games above .500! 3 back of a WC spot, which could turn to 2.5 if the As lose today.

Already excited for the deadline and the return to Toronto, but if they continue down this path, this could be the most fun 2nd half the Jays have had since their WS years.

I'd go further but you don't understand the implications of how you and others framed that area/neighborhood, plus it would just violate the TOS, and the stereotypes it perpetuates about the people there.

SE DC isn't Calabasas, again duh, but that neighborhood (keyword: neighborhood) in SE has been gentrified and is safer than 10 years ago.

I'm sure people would like to get back to talking baseball and not about an area they've never visited (but apparently know much about).

If you don't get then you don't get it. Keep it moving cause I'm done with this convo and it's definitely ran it's course.

As for actual baseball games....

The Cardinals take 2 of 3 from the Giants. Still a long way to be a serious contender for the postseason, but winning the first series after the break is a good start.

I’m not going to survive the ups and downs this team puts me through. Last night was one of the worst losses I’ve ever seen, plus to make matters worse I was there in person. Then the follow it up by falling behind 6-0 due to one of the dumber plays I’ve seen and then pull off the comeback
