yeah all where gonna hear already now is about how the dodgers have no weakness and win 130 games (they did this last year) and started out slow losing the first few series

but people are forgetting the dodgers pitching here. Hearny sucks. they still need 2 decent starters. and who knows with Beaur is gonna ever pitch as a dodger again or in baseball. and are they gonna bring back Jenson?? right now the dodgers have issues with pitching.

No one is winning 130 games, but the Dodgers pitching is fine (maybe a little thin on depth given the injury history of a couple guys). They are pretty clearly front runners in the NL West

What the Dodgers are doing is what the Yankees should be doing. It is about maximizing your chances to win the WS.

After taxes and living costs increase, I bet he is losing money by taking the 6th year.

If that was true then no one would play in California and everyone would play in Florida or Texas. Its much more complicated as you pay taxes in the state you play the game in even if you're the away team. The rules vary a lot for sports players.

I think it is clear that Freddie's agent screwed the entire situation up. I do look forward to seeing someone ask why he left Atlanta and chose LA.

He can't simply say it was monetary as LA is paying him less per year than what Atlanta offered. He can't say it was to be back home because he has constantly been saying he wants to stay in Atlanta and finish his career there.

I'd love for this to be one of the instances where an athlete speaks the truth at a conference and he just throws his agent under the bus.

Turning down 5 years 140m to have 6 at 162?

                          Isn't that a good thing?

Unless you think a 38 year old Freeman could get a deal worth over 22m a year.

I get why Freddie took what he took, but after seeing all the numbers I can’t blame AA and the Braves entirely for his departure. Their offer was extremely competitive/fair…it came down to Freddie wanting a 6th year. I hate to see it happen, but it is what it is and I can’t blame either side. I wish him all the best unless he’s playing the Braves.
