How did they manage to sign him for so cheap!?

    Easily would've gotten 30m+ a year as a FA

If you mean Jose Ramirez, the only thing I know from local talk radio is he didn't want to leave. Had no interest in free agency apparently.

He has said before, or at least his interpreter has said multiple times he wanted to stay in Cleveland and isn't worried about money and feels like he makes enough. Which is crazy to me in this day and age of baseball.

I guess we'll see how good Cleveland ends up being. If he gets lucky, it turns into a Giannis situation where people were wondering why he'd want to be so loyal to a team that probably won't win anything, and then they won.

Or he could be like other stars who try being loyal, just to end up losing or traded.

I think the fact they were willing to spend that money and they paid Clase too, means they are serious about being a contender again. So I think they will try to keep building. Hopefully Bieber gets a nice contract soon. And their pitching staff is obviously top tier.

As far as hitting, that's gonna be the issue. You got Ramirez who is gonna be in the MVP talk every year most likely. Reyes is gonna hit a bunch of home runs and actually can hit around .250-260, so he's not all or nothing. Rosario hit .286 last year. If you can get something from Gimenez and Chang then you might win some games. Also, Bradley Zimmer is a great defender and showed some crazy power out of nowhere last year. Bobby Bradley could be a wild card. They also have a lot of speed and good defense.

They also have a few nice prospects like Rocchio and Jones who are close to MLB ready who can hit. So it will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple years. They may only be a good hitting free agent away from contention.

Conforto would be a great fit in Cleveland.

Wow, we actually spent some decent money and locked up him for 8 years.

                        Braves DFA'd Sean Newcomb.

Wasn't that long ago us Braves fans thought he and Folty would be fixtures atop the rotation.

Cubs absolutely should take a flier.

Conforto undergoing shoulder surgery and won't play this season.

So he turned down a QO, probably rejected other deals, just to not sign, and will now hope some team will offer a good deal not even knowing how he will do given he's been off for a year with an injury.

That will cost him far more than the almost 20M in QO money.
