Most Mets fans hate it but I like that they didn’t do much today. They’ll go as far as the health of deGrom and Scherzer take them, Soto was never a realistic option and there is no sense depleting the farm for a rental

No, **** you, Chaim. Who is our catcher? Oh, the dude who got caught...helping himself...in a parking lot that is no more than a back-up? Or how about one of our failed prospects. Might as well bring back Swihart.

And I am cool with the Hosmer deal. We aren't paying him anything but the minimum. Sucks to lose Groome, but it's been 6 years.

Yea we just got Benintendi though for that. Bader is gonna split time with Hicks and Carp I assume.

This is real strange and interesting.

Merrifield literally a few weeks ago said he's only ever consider getting vaccinated if he's on a team playing in the playoffs in Toronto.

I mean, the Jays will literally be a team playing in the playoffs in Toronto so...

But the Jays only have 6 home games between now and August 25th, so he must be getting vaccinated soon, miss the small homestand, then really start playing here by the end of the month.

Weird conclusion. Usually we have a massive deal to cap things off.

Just Iglesias and Whit to complete our deadline. I don't remember anything after 40 minutes in last years.

So the Mets make minor moves.

I think that’s ok, they’ll go as far as Scherzer and DeGrom take them.

Still not sure why the Cubs hung on to Contreras.

I think it seems likely that the Cubs felt their best fit was with the Padres (perhaps with a mega-deal involving both Happ and Contreras), but Soto really kept that from becoming a reality. The Mets made it very clear early that they thought the Cubs' asking price was too high and neither side budged. I think the Mets didn't want a repeat of last year where they gave up a good prospect for a rental....PCA has really broken out this year.

I find it a little hard to believe that no one offered anything worth while, but given how there really wasn't any reason not to trade Willson I guess that was the case

                  This one confuses me.

Solid defense in CF, I suppose.

Morosi said his sources said if Jays offer was Bichette, Moreno, Martinez and Tiedemann, the Nats might have accepted that.

I check in on the Rockies every once in a while to laugh at them signing Kris Bryant...

                        what were they thinking?

Even before the injuries the guy barely seemed like he even wanted to compete after 2016.

Don Mattingly will not return as the Marlins manager next season.

Still impressive he has managed in 6 different decades!

He's no Connie Mack, but still.

The fact he even had a shot at 3000 wins as a coach is crazy (if he coached 1 more year). He still has more wins in his career than 4 teams (I think the number might have been 5 or 6 depending how many Mariners or Jays had when he first retired)
