Congrats to Dave Stieb and Steve Rogers!

For those that pay attention to avatars i'm sure you're wondering why I have a pic of Dave Stieb. Well the reason is he and Steve Rogers were selected to be inducted to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

I've always liked Dave Stieb, sure he was a bit of a curmudgeon and didn't get along with his teamates at times but you can't deny his competitive nature. The man was a dynamo on the mound. He was also right there with Jack Morris as the most feared and dominant pitcher of the '80s.

I gained even more respect for Stieb for his short comeback in '98 as he wanted to put closure on a career that ended abruptly. He didn't pitch too bad either for a guy who hadn't played for 4 yrs.

Anyways here's to the greatest pitcher in Blue Jays history

Stieb also pitched against my uncle in the 84 all-star game.

I have a Dave Stieb folder somewhere in my closet.

One of the best Jay pitchers and draft pick of all-time. He was truly dominant in 1990.

I didn't see Rogers pitch but I do know he was the pitcher that tossed the ball to Monday that got jacked out of the park.

Congrats to both of them for getting into the HoF.

I'm sure Walker will be joining both in the not so distance future.

Stieb was awesome. He is maybe one of the biggest tough luck pitchers of all time though. He lost a number of no-hitters in the ninth inning in the late '80s until finally he got one in Cleveland in Sept 1990. It was great to see him come back for one final season with the Jays in 1998, and I had the opportunity to see him come in from the 'pen to close out a game against the Yankees to a rousing ovation.

He's on the Jays "Level of Excellence" and is definitely deserving of his induction to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

Since Steve Rogers isn't getting any love in this thread right now, I'll say as a Phillies Phan whose first real baseball memories start in the 1980 season (convenient for me), Steve Rogers was a really good pitcher for the Expos who at that time were a real division rival who actually drew fans to their games. Besides that, he had a great 70's porno mustache!
