Gleyb Ruth starting the day off right! Walk off homer in game 1 of the doubleheader.

Cubs on primetime, against the Dodgers. This is fine…

Re: 5/2 -5/15 Game Discussion Thread

I retract my laughable earlier comments about the Cubs being "fun to watch" and perhaps even "a playoff contender" with extreme prejudice.

This is a really bad Cubs team that has emerged over the past few weeks. I question what on Earth are Tommy Hottovy's bona fides? Because he's presiding over year 2 of terrible pitching staff after helping get Joe Maddon fired (to be fair, Maddon didn't need any help). I also question whether David Ross is a decent manager or not. I think he still needs more time (and a better roster), but the team seems to be underachieving even versus its modest collection of talent. No reason this team shouldn't end up in the ballpark of .500 rather than headed toward 100 losses like they most certainly are.

I still do like the offensive focus on more of a contact approach, and think we've got some future cornerstone players there. But, getting blown out every day by (an admittedly vastly more talented) Dodgers team shows how rudderless this team is right now. They should at least be competing. The team is not very competitive right now at all.

I don't think the Cubs will lose 100 games. 3 teams can't lose 100 games in one division not enough losses.

Unlike the Astros the office gave up on the cubs to fast selling the entire infield. in a year

I suppose it will be a 3-team race between the Reds, Pirates, and Cubs to see which team can be the most awful then.

That's debatable about selling the infield. I actually think it was the right thing to do because that 2010s Cubs team had plateaued/was in decline, and all those impending FA's were not going to be paid for by the Ricketts family. So, I think Hoyer did the right thing in getting something for them.

Nestor going to get a no decision after losing his no hitter after 7.1 and being taken out of the game.

Offense not really showing up in this Texas series.

Then that weird play to finally break through, wish we could’ve done it while Nestor was the pitcher of record.

Not pretty but we’ll take the win.

A win is a win. And a series clincher to boot. Yankees scored 5 runs in the entire series. Great pitching.

How bout them Guardians. Down 8-2 in the 9th then Naylor destroys baseballs foe a 3 run win.

Ohtani hit his first GS last night and added another going back to back with Trout.
