Pujols with a grand slam for homerun number 690.

    Cards up 12-0 on Rockies

Braves are 50-20 (.715 win %) since June 1st…as amazing as that is, not the best stretch I’ve seen a Braves team have. I’ll never forget the 58-19 finish after acquiring Fred McGriff in 1993. What a run that was…

That team was so good. I still have a column from Mark Bradley of the AJC, when the Braves were still like 9.5 back from the Giants, talking about how dogged they were in pursuit of the division lead.

Other than 91, that season remains as the most bitter end for me.

              Edit: Found it.

Nobody has had this many moves blow up in their face as much as Preller. To think at one point they were neck-and-neck with the likes of the Dodgers and Mets and again they look like dog****. Preller has proven he cannot build a functional ball club. Time to move on.

The Cardinals are playing well right now. To think the non marquee acquisitions of Quintana and Montgomery would be the stabilization this staff needed. Those two along with wainwright and mikolas give us a confident feeling that you’ll get a solid 5/6 inning start each time they take the ball. And still waiting on Flaherty to return.

Division lead down to 7. We are getting into Fire Boone" territory.

glad I don't see baserunning and umpiring regularly, in like today's little league world series Italy-Australia game, with the foul ball non-triple play.
can't wrap my mind around why it was called ultimately foul. mind-boggling

Boone ain't the Yankees problem, though it won't bother me one whit if they do let him go.
however, lemme know when ''Fire Cashman'' territory is breached.

Boone isn't great. But I'm about done with Cashman. If they continue this trend. I say get rid of both. But I doubt Cashman goes anywhere. But none of his moves have worked so far. That's a small sample size but it's been a complete fail since the TD.

Boone isn't the smartest manager. But he's likable and he's good at protecting his team. I like him as a person. But could do better as a in game manager. Bullpen management isn't good. He plays musical chairs with the lineup. Think he just throws **** at the wall and hopes it sticks sometimes. He was mad as hell today. Smacking the podium. I appreciate the fire.

Yankees got hit with the injury bug but there's no way they should be this bad. With a healthy Stanton it's a different team. But I hate that everyone else is doing nothing. It's the same as last year. This team lives and dies with Judge and Stanton. We don't have a third guy that can carry a team. Everyone looks to those two. Not a recipe for success in the playoffs.

Teams are just pitching around Judge and rightfully so. It's changed the whole dynamic. Losing Matt "Barry Bonds" Carpenter hurt too.

It's a shame Pujols won't play beyond this year, but I doubt he'd be able to break the all time record in a season or two.

But at least he has a good shot at 700 this year. Hopefully he gets it.

Obviously it's rare to get 700, but I wonder how long before we get anyone remotely close again.

Even 500, after seeing Cabrera get it, it's probably another 4-5 years until Trout gets there, and he'd need to keep up a 30HR per season pace for 12 seasons, aka having his next 12 years being just as good if not better than his first 12 years has been in the majors.
