Re: 4/10 - 4/23 Game Discussion Thread
I’m watching the Mets AAA game and they’re talking about the automatic strike zone. They just said one of the things they’re going to be trying starting in a few weeks is the umpires call the game and players get a certain amount of challenges. If they challenge a call then it goes to the computer to determine ball/strike. This sounds way too gimmickyComment

I'd rather just have the automatic strike zone being in place with no human ump at all.I’m watching the Mets AAA game and they’re talking about the automatic strike zone. IF they want a challenge system, it NEEDS to be like Tennis where you know the result within seconds, and each TEAM has a specific number, but the BATTER must immediately challenge the call within 5 or so seconds.Comment

Re: 4/10 - 4/23 Game Discussion Thread
People are saying TB going 13-0 isn't as impressive since they're facing bad teams. It's still impressive sweeping that many teams regardless, but figured I'd compare to past teams.
82 Braves 2 game swept Padres (who finished 81-81), Reds (61-101), Astros twice (77-85) and then took two more vs Reds before losing the final game of that series (and proceeded to get 2 game swept by the Padres right after).
87 Brewers swept Red Sox (78-84), Rangers twice (75-87), O's (67-95) and won vs White Sox once before losing to them.
So Rays beating Tigers,Nats,As,Red Sox falls in line with those other teams. NONE of the leaders in this category beat a team who finished above .500 during their entire streak. If those teams finish similar to last year, Red Sox at 78-84 would be the best (same story as Brewers).Comment

The way they explained the challenge system, once a call is challenged an image immediately goes on the Jumbotron showing if it was a ball or strike. Either have robots make 100% of the calls or don’t have them at allI'd rather just have the automatic strike zone being in place with no human ump at all.

Re: 4/10 - 4/23 Game Discussion Thread
That does sound like Tennis at least which is good. That's the one challenge system I like of all sports.
Not sure how you'd display these calls all around the league. Do you just have an MLB The Show/MLB Gameday style batter overview showing pitch by pitch on the jumbtron which updates in a split second?Comment
