During his great 2021 season, Vlad Jr. and the Jays played their home games in TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida until June 1 then they moved back to Sahlen Field in Buffalo. From July 30th to the end of the season they played on their regular stadium (Rogers Centre).

These are his splits for homes games that season:

    From July 30th onward:

I'm guessing the Jays front office have done this analysis in a much more sophisticated way, many times over.

AA signs a long-term extension with the Braves through 2031.

I’m assuming it’s team-friendly like all Braves extensions are?

Excellent point - I wasn't paying attention to baseball much in 2021 and had forgotten the Jays didn't play at "home". That absolutely would be an even bigger reason to stay away from any type of long term deal with him.

Weird seeing Hicks given a deal like that AND being a SP?

We know of SP becoming relievers, but a reliever becoming a SP in his late 20s?

Michael King just did the same thing.

King was a little more of a swing man coming up for a while though wasn't he? Hicks has pretty moluch solely been a short-inning reliever outside of a brief trial run as a starter with the Cardinals a few years ago - which didn't go so well IIRC

Jordan Hicks came up as a starter in the minors…he wasn’t a reliever until he got to the bigs.

I don’t think I’ve been this unenthusiastic about the start of the Mets season since 2014. The did end up calling up deGrom who won the rookie of the year and they went on to the World Series the next year so hopefully they’re on the same trajectory

MLB free agency in general is fairly slow/dull.

Not like the NBA where teams sign/tamper leading up to the official start, or NHL where the minute free agency opens lots of guys sign.
