With options on both sides of the contract. Could end at 7-10.years or extend to 14 for $388+ million. So huge for KC!

It is my impression that guys not signing into spring training has been a thing now for quite a few years, I distinctly remember not happening the year of the recent lockout, but that seemed more like a tactical decision from owners/ front offices.

Unless the rules are changed (I'm not saying they need to, but people keep complaining), this is the way it is.

Yeah signing late is nothing new. I can remember Harper not being signed until after spring training games had started

5th year is a weird one. It includes a player option for 6.4m, but if he declines the player option, the Jays have a team option of 10m.
