I'll grade Stearns a C+/B- pending how well this bull pen stabilizes.

The 2 starting pitchers injured was a bummer. I really wish he sold high on some but, I also understand why he's trying.

What are the Angels doing? What are the Rockies doing? Fans should be upset!

I get the Braves not wanting to go into the next tier of the luxury tax. But they would have had a lot more wiggle room if AA hadn't spent the offseason trading bad contracts for worse ones. He racked up a ton of dead money last offseason.

And I'm guessing he'll play that game again with Soler this coming offseason.

They still have 1 more year of arbitration, and I doubt he walks after that simply because he doesn't want to be here.

If they can't work out a long term deal then perhaps they just move him in the offseason. No need to rush or panic now.

I get it's a business but still....

Rowdy Tellez, who has played 131 games for the Pirates this year just got released with just days left in the season.

The apparent reason, he was 4 plate appearances away from getting a 200k bonus.

I wonder if he could file a grievance through the PA.


Pirates deny they released him for that reason, but what other reason could there have been? While he has struggled this year, how do you release a guy literally days before the seasons done and his contract expires, and it happened to be at one of the latest points you can release him without risking him getting 4PA in his next game played.

We wonder if any of the future moderately priced veteran free agents the Pirates like to sign will take notice about just how the team handled Tellez and Michael A. Taylor, cutting them for no real reason with six days to go. Tellez got off to a horrible start this year, but he’d hit .277/.330/.478 with 12 homers and 48 RBI in 279 plate appearances since the beginning of June. Connor Joe and Billy Cook will likely finish up as the Pirates’ first basemen.
