"I tend to think if you put Jeter in Baltimore, they would have a worse record than they did with Tejada. If you think that somehow, he'd make them better than Tejada would, well, your, entitled to your opinion."

I agree with that part but I also think if Tejada were on the Yankees, they wouldn't have gotten as many WS rings as they won with Jeter. Talent vs. intangibles. It's a tough debate.

Izturis vs Greene Greene vs Izturis, it's all a matter of opinion. Look at the Shortstops in the NL West. you've got:

        Arizona: Royce Clayton
        Los Angeles: Izturis
        San Diego: Greene
        San Francisco: Vizquel

Those are 4 very good SS's. Clayton, Izturis and Vizquel are great with the glove. Greene was a rookie last year, he made some error's but he is only going to get better. Also, he is a far better offensive threat than the other 3, that has to count for something.
As i said, it's all a matter of opinion, i picked Omar Vizquel!. so this has nothing to do with someone starting a thread to "showcase his favorite player".

To any Rockies fans: i left Clint Barmes off the list because i have not seen him play much and do not know if he is a good defensive player or not. I have heard that many in the Rockies orginization believe he will be an excellent leadoff hitter one day and may bump Aaron Miles from the leadoff spot this season.

That's the only way I'll give a Dodger a nod.

Sorry, read my post. Biasness accepted. And Khalil Greene isn't my favorite. Oliver Perez is. Next please.
Izturis still had a productive year at the plate. He is the best SS in the division, thus far.

And that diving play where he went into the stands? At least half of the shortstops make that play, including Miguel Tejada, without having to dive into the stands, as they have better range than Jeter. Granted, he sacrificed his body and all, I'm just saying it was a pretty over rated play.

While Jeter puts up a better OBP than Tejada, Tejada is a better fielder, puts up a better SLG% and OPS and last year, and put up a better batting average. The fact that Jeter has a better OBP may be because he had better protection, like Sheffield and A-Rod, although, Tejada protection wasn't to shabby with Lopez and Mora (though I don't know what the actual order was).

It may not be a real team oriented sport, but it takes a team to win a championship. It's not like Jeter was playing with a bunch of scrubs, who, because of Jeter's amazing intangibles, automatically turned into All-Stars. No, he was playing with very talented players. It should be noted though that Jeter had better years than Tejada did when the Yankee's were winning all those championships, but since we are talking about this years worth, I thought it would be more useful to use 3 year averages, as opposed to stats from five years ago.

If I had to choose a SS for the 162 game season I would choose Tejada. If I needed a SS for one game or a playoff series I would take Jeter. There's no reason to bash either of these great players.
