    When will they learn?

When are coaches going to figure out that walking Bonds does more harm than pitching to him. They keep opening themselves up to big innings because they start by walking him. Geez, get some balls people. if he comes up with the bases empty, why walk him? Just doesn't make sense to me. Even with a guy on first, it doesn't make sense. If everyone is going to roll over for him, they might as well hand the trophy to the Giants.

I would pitch to him too. A walk is just like a base hit.

If Bonds were the only person on the team that could hit, then it would make sense. But the GIants have a lot of guys who can hit the ball, and it's killing the Angels to put a guy on base for free every 2-3 innings like that.

yeah i mean their professionals this is their "job" when are they gonna say "hey this is doing more harm then good maybe we should pitch to him" now i know he is a great HR hitter but u have to pitch to him @least 2 times but once he gets his homer no more for that nite...btw i hate bonds i respect how good he is but hate his attitude he left pittsburgh and haven't liked him since

It's really situational. With a runner on 2 and 1 out, don't even waste your pitcher's arm, have the first baseman pitch and plunk him in the thigh. But leading off an inning? I don't know, that's risky.

Part of the problem is that they are trying so hard not to give him anything to hit and he has such great command of the strike zone, pitchers walk him even when they don't want to.
