    Red Sox Trade Poll

I know many of you probably don't care, but Im a sox fan so I figured I'd see what other people think...

Should the Red Sox trade Hanley Ramirez?

    1) Yes, trade him for a good pitcher by the deadline.
    2) No, keep him and groom him for 2B, 3B or CF(IF damon leaves this winter)
    3) See how he does by the deadline and then decide.

    Re: Red Sox Trade Poll

I'd trade him for the right player(s) depending on what the Sox need later in the season and what players other teams are offering.

If the Sox were a small market team I would want them to hang onto him since he'll be cost-effective for several years. But we're talking about the Red Sox so money doesn't matter.

He's blocked at SS long term and I see Damon resigning so the CF position might not be open either.

I say no, they should keep him. With Johnny Damon, Mark Bellhorn and Bill Mueller all free agents after this season they could easily move Ramirez to one of those positions.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling, but this guy also just seems too good to let go for anything that isn't a very good deal.

In a wierd way, I don't think I'd even do hanley for ben Sheets, just because I became so enfatuated with this guy this offseason/spring training.

                Ramirez for Ben Sheets?

                Did you just hear yourself?

That would be a rookie who's never played an MLB game before for a young... proven... potential prennial allstar pitcher who is about to get resigned.

Lol...i'm wierd and obviously I'd do that trade because Ben Sheets is better than anything you guys got on your yankee staff...

Okay maybe not Randy Johnson, but other than that.

I at least hope they don't make any rash decisions and wait until the deadline to see how he has progressed. I mean if he is lighting it up and is doing amazing, i hope they hold onto him, but if he is doing good enough to warrant other teams attention, say the Brewers, then they probably should trade him while his stock is high.

                        Re: Red Sox Trade Poll

My answer is the same as the Red Sox FO, only trade him for a young front-line starter. Right now, I'm not sure who fits that criteria other than Ben Sheets and Johan Santana, and they aren't going anywhere.

rsox has it right, with three openings likely coming up at the end of the season, they should keep him. Its kind of a crime to have this kid play anywhere but shortstop, but I'm content seeing him at second or in center.

No one is going to offer the Red Sox a trade like that in the first place... so I don't think you need to worry about calling up Theo and telling him to accept Sheets for Hanley Ramirez.

Plus when did we start comparing Sheets to any of the Yankees' starters? It has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation.
