Stark of ESPN.com Picks Twins to Win W.S.

As a Yankee fan... I am terrified every year of facing them and Johan Santana in a 5 game series.

Edit: Gammons, Olney, Crasnick all agree.

    WHAT THE HELL?

I understand that the Twins have a great team philosophy and all but I don't think they'll make the WS. I wonder if the ppl at ESPN are drinking Twins Kool-Aid.

Twins have a decent shot. They always seem to make the playoffs, and were in the LCS a couple years ago. Good, good team.

If the Twins can make the playoffs they will be dangerous. Seeing Johan Santana 2 or 3 times is going to be hard for any team.

Twins haven't been much of a threat till recent years, and since then, they've been friggin awesome. But I've been listening to some sports shows and they're saying the Yankees are poised to take it this year. I mean, have you seen the team's lineup? It's made almost completely of veteran all-stars. Thing is, they're all getting older too. Significantly so. I forget what show I was listening to, but they said that the Yankees are trying to get the World Series again just one more year before everyone goes "over the hill." I think it'll happen.

I heard an interview by Eric Chavez on the Dan Patrick show the other day and he said that Santana is tipping his change-up. It'll be interesting to see if he gets that corrected early in the season.

Johan was a flash in the pan.

Hes a fastball/change pitcher, that just happens to have extreme skill in both. Thing is, players will just learn to take his change since he throws it out of the strike zone, and wait for his fastball.

And about the Chavez thing. he is right, at a game I went to last year, Santana doesnt step back as far with his right foot when throwing his change. Its easy to see from the side, as its about a 1/4 step, but not as noticable from the batters box.

I look for the Tigers and White Sox to actually do something this year in the most competitive league in the AL. Granted the Twins are dangerous if they make it out, but that league is top-bottom dangerous(except for the Royals).

Odd. I'm very surprised Chavez would say anything at all. The last thing he wants to do is let MIN know that other teams think Santana is tipping his change-up. That is unless MIN already knows about it and is working to change it.

However, to the best of my knowledge, when a team gets a valuable piece of info like that (especially against someone as dominant as Santana), they keep that info locked tightly.
