WHy does everybody think the Giants cannot win without Bonds

Most people dont understand that losing Bonds isn't that big of a deal. We have Pedro Feliz to come in, whom IMO can fill the shoes of Barry Bonds offense wise. He might not knock 70 out of the park but he can knock 30-35 and hit for average as well. The depth of the Giants is great too i think. The starting rotation is good but not well known. I dont see how people have them as a mediocre team.

The depth on this year's team is much deeper then before. You can't say that losing Barry won't hurt, but this is the one year where they might be able to continue winning. Where as the past few years, no one could step up.

Defensively it's a huge increase from last year. Vizquel, Matheny are obvious additions. Alfonzo has looked quicker at the few spring training games I've been to.

Just having someone as the set closer will help out incredibly. Now Herges, Brower, Eyre and the rest can go back to doing what they do best.

Hell, they have enough young pitchers to possibly make a deal if need be.

Feliz has been one of my favorite players for a while now, and I'm glad that he now has a shot to show what he's worth. He's put in a lot of work for the club, and has played everywhere that he has been asked to. He's earned this shot, but who knows for how long it might be for.

The West is wide open, whether Bonds is out or not makes no difference. Well except for the D-Backs and the Rockies.

Sorry to say it...but Feliz, as much as I too like him and the way he plays, cannot fill Barry's shoes offensively. There are only 5 guys in the league who could: Pujols, Manny, Vlad, Helton, and A-rod(during his MVP years)

Pedro feliz, while good and everything, cannot set a record for walks, cannot strike out as few times as Bonds, nor is he as good a hitter as Bonds. Juiced or not, Bonds has probably they best swing in all of baseball.

Well, he did win MVP last year meaning he did shoulder the load of his team quite a bit. I'll see how it plays out with the Giants missing Bonds.

As a Giants, and Feliz fan.. you are seriously crazy if you think he can fill Bonds shoes. Feliz won't draw fear upon the other teams eyes, won't change the defense, and the presence of Feliz is nothing compared to Bonds. Don't get me wrong, I do think the Giants will still compete and have a much better team than last year
                    I do because I can, I can because I want, I want because you say I can't
