Who Will Be The First Manager Fired?

I think its going to be Lloyd McClendon of the Pittsburgh Pirates. I would have said Yost but Milwaukee is starting pretty good and I dont think they will do that bad to have their coach fired.

I think Bruce Bochy is on a short leash over in San Diego, but you're probably right about McClendon. And I don't know if I'd be sorry to see him go, to be honest.

I dont think he deserves to go but he probably will. I dont really follow the Pirates but to my knowledge they haven't been putting together great teams. They had Kendall and could not build around him. They had potentially good pitchers and could not keep them. I see they have a good set of youngsters there right now with Bay, Jack Wilson, Redmond...hopefully you guys can build around them.

I think its rare to see a 1st year coach to get fired. The front office doesnt want everybody to think they made a mistake in hiring Randolph.

Bruce Bochy's fate with the Padres depends on how well the team does. This is the final year of his contract and hasn't had an extension (nor are they talks about this). I don't see him getting fired unless the Padres have a great collapse.

Re: Who Will Be The First Manager Fired?

                    McClendon
                    Randolph
                    Bochy

                    In that order

I think that McClendon will be gone by early May if things continue to go downhill. Randolph will be gone in early June if the Mets aren't playing well and Bochy will be fired at the AS break if the Padres are struggling.

I am in no way a Mets fan... but I have to say something. Why is everyone assuming that just because the Mets get off to a bad 0-5 start that the year will automatically be disasterous for them? Lets wait until maybe 20-30 games in until we talk about their season and the fate of their manager WHO'S MANAGED 5 GAMES FOR THEM.

Re: Who Will Be The First Manager Fired?

                          Loser Lloyd McClendon.

He's been on the hot seat for 2 years now. While he doesn't have the talent that many other managers have, he does make some terrible decisions. In the past he's cost the team games and with the talent the Pirates have, they can't afford that.

The reason he was hired as a manager in 2001 was that he was the cheapest guy around. Typical Pirates BS... This is a guy who had no previous managerial experience at any level as well.

I won't be sad to see him go if it happens. He's not the only reason they're losing, but he's part of the problem.

There is no way that Randolph gets fired. You rarely, if ever, see a first year manager get fired.
