The Indians SS? whats the deal with him i thought he was gonna be the starting ss opening day. Also people were saying how much talent this guy has. Anyone have news on him?

Jhonny Peralta was the favorite for the starting SS position going into spring training this year and he kept the job. He hit like .390, 2 HRs, 10 RBI during the spring and Phillips didn't perform nearly as well.Originally posted by AtlantaFalconFan

He was given chances to prove himself, just hasn't seized the opportunity.
In 2003, he was played basically as a regular at 2B. But he blew the joint up, and lost that job to Ronnie Belliard.
2004 he was called up for a few games, didn't show anything.
And in spring training he was given a chance to win the job over Peralta, but got on base five times, and only once it was extra base hits.
He is only 23, so he still has a chance to fix whatever problems he has...but right now he just doesn't seem to be able to get past the Triple A level...Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

he's a head case, he thinks he knows it all and doesn't take advice from our coaches. He's struggled horribly in the majors and until his attitude is better don't look for him in Cleveland anytime soon, I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually trade him actually.http://flotn.blogspot.com
