    If you're asking how to compute it, the formula is:

    total bases / at-bats
    New England Patriots
    Boston Celtics

      It is basically how likely a hit will result in extra bases for a batter.

        It's total bases per at-bats.

        Total bases equates to one point for a single, two for a double, three for a triple, and four for a homerun.

        So, say a player has a single, two doubles, and a homer in twelve ABs. His average would be .333, whereas his slugging percentage would be 1.083.

        Compared to a player who has two singles, and a double in twelve ABs: His average would be .250, and SLG% .333.
