Or they could simply force all ballparks to cut off beer sales at a certain point. This happened in the bottom of the eighth, if they had even cut off sales at the stretch, the whole thing likely wouldn't have happened. Or at least wouldn't have been heightened by the "alleged" beer tossing that happened after the initial incident. Hell, I even think cutting off sales at the stretch is too late, I would say between the top and bottom half of the fifth would likely be the most effective place to stop. Or, they could do the sane thing, quit worrying about the almighty dollar, and ban all alcohol sales at every sporting event.

I think they do get cut off mid 7th.

Dude, let it go. Being called a Yankee fan won't ruin the rest of your life. Really, trust me, as horrible as it may be, you will still be allowed to be a functional member of society and reproduce. I'm not going to say if Dacubys is right or wrong here, because, honestly, I don't know, but this little side bitchfest you two have going on here isn't helping an already testy situation. One of you has to be the bigger man, and seeing how adamant the other guy is about his stance, I would hope you would be the one to take a stand and just walk away.

It wasn't a matter of defending the Yankees it was a matter of being pretty pissed about the crap fans are pulling these days. I will have kids in the near future and I hope that I'll have the chance to take them to a game where they will be able to sit in the front row. If this kind of stuff continues, I believe the leagues may have to overreact and create a greater distance between the fans and the playing surface. Because we all know, it only takes a few to ruin it for all the rest.

i am not defending them i am just stting that he did not purposely hit sheffield it was an accident and it wasnt much of a hit anyway (and if the yankees were winning do you think sheff would have reacted the same way) and that guy did not throw his beer on him he was clueless as to what was going on this whole story was overblown by the espn announcers....the fan should not have reached over and swiped at the ball but sheffield should not have thrown an elbow at the fan that is assault. I know you loose your cool every now and then but shefield is a highly paid person he should have more class. he should have thrown the ball in and got the attention of the security to handle the problem.

Beer sales at Fenway are cut off at the stretch or 2 1/2 hours after the game starts, whichever comes first.
