Hes actually fairly slow but compensates by anticipating...even with that though there are guys who have an easier time getting to the ball without his ability to anticipate. He has a solid arm but so do others in CF and hes a smart CF but his speed is the thing that holds him back (literally I guess).

It's common knowledge that Jeter is among the worst SS in baseball in regards to his range. For some reason people think he's a good fielder because of his mythical intangibles. I'm still trying to figure out what those are.
I agree that Jeter's problem is his range, I think his arm is supposed to be okay. If that's the case he would work at third, but not second...and at third his offensive stats would be a lot less impressive for him position. Basically if he moves he goes from being the top few guys at his position to a bit above average, which means he's a lot easier to replace and a lot less valuable, so I definetly think he wanted to stay at SS because he was insecure about his ability to be seen as a great player at third...so yes I think he is insecure (back to my original point...)

I agree with that assessment. The man just makes some extraordinary plays that make me go

Damn I'm getting onto this one late.

I have no problem with what Sheffield did, and cheers to him that he was able to restrain himself from throwing a punch.

Was it an accident or was it done on purpose? Who knows, but I hate those short walls. There always seem to be some chav sitting down there who's just looking to start trouble.

When I saw this it reminded me of the World Series a few years back when an Angels fan hit Reggie Sanders with one of his thunder sticks (aka Fake Noise Makers.) Now, it's not going to hurt, but keep your *** **** self off of the field.

Jeter is a perfect example of someone who's so overrated they are underrated.

The New York Yankees and their fans are the last people in the world who should be complaining about fan interference. These are the same people who benefited from the most blatant piece of fan interference that anyone has ever seen. And not only did they not complain about it,they paraded the kid who did it around like a goddamned war hero. And then proceeded to tell anybody who disagreed with it to piss off.

Gary Sheffield overreacted, plain and simple. That fan barely touched barely touched him. And I'm sick of everbody saying Sheffield showed restraint. Please,if he doesn't overreact, then we don't have this situation.

If this had been any player from any other team, just about every sports media person in the country would be calling for a suspension. ESPN would be roasting the player over the coals. But since it's someone from the New York Yankees he was only defending himself. If Milton Bradley pulls that stunt,he's got anger management issues. Gary Sheffield does it,and all of a sudden it's some beer guzzlin fan who got what was coming to him. Give me a break.

The short walls at Fenway have been ridiculous this year. In the past people have been able to restrain themselves. Now every ball down the line they are diving out over the fence trying to grab it.

That was an important play in the game. If a fan had touched the ball it would've cost the Red Sox a run. With the bandwagon overflowing after the WS there are so many idiot fans who simply don't understand that.

Another problem down in RF is they allow people in the front row to put their beers on top of the wall. This inevitably causes problems because whenever theres a play down there, beer is flying whether it's intentional or not. Opposing players should be able to play RF without getting showered with beer.

If a fan touches the ball while it's in play they are ejected. I think a simple solution for the Red Sox is to eject anyone who reaches for the ball. They have enough camera footage and security to easily identify these people. A message needs to be sent to these idiots that they are not part of the game on the field.

I absolutely cant stand SHeffiled, but he definately deserves props for restraining himself when I wanted him to knock a fellow Sox fan out.

Shef had such a great opportunity to punch the guy but you could see him stop himself. It was right before the bullpen security guard came into the picture. Gary kinda reached back as if to throw a punch but stopped. A very good move by him.

We had to take the good with the bad yesterday...Boston fan acting out of line..gee what a suprise there..and Arod saving a child from getting run over.

P.S. Thank you David Stern for the stiff penalties in the Pacers-Pistons brawl.

Alliball you really gotta open your eyes. The beer got thrown because the person flinched when all that happend. And it was a ladies beer that spilt on him as she flicnhed away when sheffield brought his fist back

You are smoking crack. It was a guys beer (he was wearing a GAP sweatshirt) and he flicked his wrist (he wasn't bumped into it) which caused his beer to pour on Sheffield. I can't say definitively either way if he did it on purpose or not, but if I were a betting man I'd say it looked intentional.

Hockey is a different sport.... I will admit, Arod has a better arm, so he went to third, If I owned the Yankees I would rather have Arod at third anyways.
