    3rd player busted using roids

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2041748

And that player is ................. Agustin Montero.
I'm sure he didn't mean to do it though.

Don't worry you're not the only person that's never heard of him before.

Re: 3rd player busted using roids

So how does this suspension work? He's on their AA team, so it doesn't seem like he will be in the Majors anytime in the near future, probably September at the earliest. But, he didn't fail the minor league's steroid testing, so one would think suspending him from a few AA games wouldn't be the right thing to do. What happens to this guy then? Is he suspended anyways for ten days while with Frisco, or does it hold over until he reaches the Majors, which may never even happen?

He serves a 10 day suspension in the minors.

He should be counting his lucky stars that he wasn't removed from the 40 man roster when he tested positive. Having a 10 day suspension is a lot better than missing 15 games.

How is he going to be removed from something he's been off of since opening day?

People are being caught. People won't be satisfied until a big name star tests positive, I understand. It's going to happen sooner or later but for now, clearly, the testing has identified some players.

Re: 3rd player busted using roids

What the hell did all of you expect? You actually think a big name is going to be stupid enough to be on the juice after all that even went down last season? These are exactly the types of players who are going to be getting caught, at least for now. This isn't 1998, nor are these tests retroactive, there simply isn't going to be big names popping up positive left and right. Any player worth their weight who was doping is not going to be stupid enough to do anything even remotely close to a performance-enhancer with all that has went down, and to be expecting anything more is just plain stubborn. Hey, I'd love to see a big-name player get busted for this as much as the next guy, it would totally tarnish the guys career and ruin any rep they had, but the chances of that happening are both slim and none. There have been rumors (or reports, whatever) that the testing skipped over Giambi, Sheffield, and A-Rod when they rolled through Yankees camp, and to that I say, "so what." You honestly think they are going to turn up positive? The testing here IS random, and maybe, just maybe, things happened so they weren't in that first group. It is completely possible. Regardless, the testing is mandatory they will get theirs when the time comes. Be it whenever the next tests occur, or after that. And if you honestly think they would show up as being dopers then, now, or whenever, well, perhaps you need a new hobby.

I said he was lucky he wasn't removed at the time he tested positive.

Well, that is when he submitted the sample, but we don't know when exactly it was that the positive test results came back. It could very well be that the results came back at the same time as Alex Sanchez right before opening day and this guy was designated for assignment because of it. Or, it could have only have come back within the past couple weeks while he has been at AA. At this point, we really don't know how long it takes for the tests to return a positive result.

For those who are replying sarcastically, look, people are asking MLB to do something about steroids and they are. You think a big name player would be dumb enough to get caught using steroids? Take it for what its worth... It's only three weeks into the season...

I'm afraid reason will fall on deaf ears. These vocal yokels just wanna see a big star burned at the stake, and will just keep screaming for blood until that big star gets nabbed, regardless of whether mlb's policy is actually working or not.

I'd rather just enjoy the baseball season, because, quite frankly nobody cares about steroids except for a really vocal and obnoxious minority and the sensationalist media.
