I don't think you can accurately make that statment without personally knowing what goes on in the clubhouse. There's never been any indication that A-Rod acts like a diva who doesnt give a rats *** about the team and only cares about himself.

Your a Mets fan so I'm going to assume you live in NY (correct me if I'm wrong) so then you'd know pretty well that if the fans or his teammates felt that he put himself above the team then the media would be eating him up here in NY. Plus... Jeter... Torre...Rivera... Bernie... etc. dont stand for guys like that no matter how good they are... which has been made known in past history.

Not coming through when it matters isnt a result of putting yourself above the team as you stated so unevidently.... all it comes down to is the fact that he hasnt performed well in the clutch... and hopefully this season he can turn it around.

Oh man some of the people who call in are great. Espically at like 1:30-2 in the morning. That's when all the crazy folk call in and say trade A-Rod to the Indians and get Boone back.

Well, he carried the team through the first 8 games of the playoffs last year, but no one remembers that. He gets killed for the last 4 games.

Yet Gary Sheffield hit even worse in the last 4 Boston games last year, and he gets none of the blame.

He's not the only one who has dissapeared in big spots before.

I'd like his average with risp to improve too, but he gets bashed way too much by Yankee fans, while they cheer guys like Giambi who has done nothing of importance in his 3+ years as a Yankee minus 2 solo homeruns.

Just don't understand it.

I know exactly what you mean... but its just due to the short memory of all fans... no matter of what team. Giambi's 2 Hr's in that Game 7 pushed us into the World Series. From then on, screw what else he did... that was all that mattered.

Now for last year... Sheffield had an MVP type year... so when he dissappeared in the ALCS... the blame was shifted to the superstar who was expected to help bring us a WS ring... but was hitting about .250 with RISP.

Jets you know as well as anyone else... Yanks fans dont care what you did... its what you do now. And in those games NO ONE performed well... including Sheff... Jeter... Rivera... etc.... but Yanks fans cant blame Jeter or Rivera... because thats sacreligious here... and Sheff had an MVP season.. which is why he got a pass... and that only left the superstar who hadn't come up as big in the regular season as everyone hoped.

Yea, what you say is true. Just kind of annoying hearing him get bashed all the time, and other players, and not just the guys from the Championship teams getting free passes.

People change... especially when the media is on your behind every second of the day in NY.... I'm willing to bet hes changed his ways. Jeter and the rest wouldn't stand for it if he hadn't and there's no feelings of a problem in clubhouse chemistry right now.
