When will a well-known player test positive for steroids

Okay, less than a month into the year and four MLB players have tested positive , but they've all been reserves at best. So my question is: when do you think a 'name' player will get caught?

I'm not referring to perrenial all-stars or future Hall of Famers, just solid everyday players, guys like Raul Ibanez, Carl Everett, Bill Mueller, etc.

My personal guess is for before the all-star break, I bet we see one by then and then one or two more the rest of the year...no particular reason, call it a hunch.

*Please note I wasn't implying that any of those players mentioned are on 'roids, just example of the type of player I mean.

Who would be stupid enough to keep taking steroids after everything major league baseball did this offseason to improve the testing... wait theres still Barry Bonds .

The well known players have either stopped using or have the $$ to move on to another undetectable steroid.

      Here's an interesting fact:

The top 10 active career home run leaders enter Wednesday having combined to hit only 17 through 303 games this season, or one in every 31 at-bats, according to USA TODAY research. At the same point last season the group had 37 home runs.

This was discussed this morning on the Mike and Mike show on ESPN radio, and it was pointed out that those numbers are a little skewed, because guys like Bonds, Thomas, and Gonzalez are on the DL.

Let's see how that holds up over the season, as right now it seems like most of those players are just in genuine slumps.

Firstly the answer to the question is never. Peter Gammons has commented several times that the system is designed to protect the superstars, that's the unions work though.

Second, yeah these great power hitters seem 'down'. But hey Sammy's got 4, and he's hitting almost .300. THis from a notoroious slow starter.

I agree with Jistic, there will never be a superstar who gets outed. I do have a conspiracy theory tho.

Imagine this: a superstar player tests positive and instead of outing him like they do to the scrubs they'll make an arrangement with the player's team to manufacture some injury as "punishment".

Of course if that were to happen and be snooped up by the media then MLB will be under a whole load of trouble.

That theory is an old one and it goes back to last year when Sosa, Bonds and Giambi were all out at the same time. I think it was when Sosa injured his back sneezing.

Not for a while. I'm not even sure if a well-known player has been tested.

A "fat slob" who had 41 HR's and 139 RBI's last year. Don't hate him because he's a Yankee killer.

A fat slob huh? Well, then all that "fat" helped him hit all those home runs, I'll take that.
