Vlad or Pujols?

Ok I have this dilemna. About 2 months ago, I drafted Vlad Guerrero with the #3 pick in my fantasy draft. Then about a few days before the season started, I get this trade offered to me:

I would get:
Albert Pujols
Jason Lane

He would get:
Vlad Guerrero
Rafeal Palmeiro

Well after much thinking, I accepted the trade. I got a great deal out of it because of Jason Lane (Raf wouldnt play for me, I had Delgado at first). Both are just amazing athletes.

So who would you rather have?

Pujols is the second best hitter in baseball. Its like this:

1. Bonds




2. Pujols




3. Vlad, ARod, etc

Personally i'd rank it like this:

1 and 1A: Bonds and Pujols

2. Vlad

3. A-Rod

I put Pujols alongside Bonds because he's younger, has more upside and will have more peak years compared to Bonds for the forseeable future.

and he does it all natural so I would say Pujols is the better natural hitter.

I would also rather have Pujols. Like some have said before the list for me goes:

1. Bonds
2. Pujols
3. Vlad

It sounds like the both of you got what you wanted in the trade but I think you got the better end. Good deal.

I feel like you got the better deal, especially since it seems it fits your needs better.

I believe Pujols is the best hitter in baseball right now. The eye he has at the plate, the bat control, the power, and the ability to go opposite field with consistency and power combine to make him the best hitter in baseball. We're talking about a guy that almost had more home runs then strike outs last year. If anyone can win the triple crown, it's Pujols.

About the Vlad vs. A-Rod argument:

From a fantasy standpoint, I believe A-Rod is the better player, simply because he stands out so much further compared to the other third basemen in the league. That being said, I believe Vlad is the better player in real life, because he hits for a better average, has a higher OBP, and strikes out much less. Tough choice though.

Since this is fantasy shouldn't this be in the other forums? ...Anyways really, they are interchangable and it all depends on how you want to build your team. Power or the 5-stat Vlad? I'd probably take Pujols 9 times out of 10.. but you've got more options with the Vlad. They are basically interchangable.. except Pujols has WAY more protection with Edmonds and Rolen behind him.

I don't know what you guys are talking about Bonds being the #1 guy, maybe some don't realize this is fantasy baseball, and not the real thing. I don't know why the guy would trade Pujols/Lane for Vlad/Garbage.. he obviously doesn't know how to value his guys right.

Wow, nice trade. Palmeiro is worthless now when it comes to fantasy baseball. I hope this guy isn't starting him.

If your looking for a 5 tool player then A-Rod and Vlad are your best choice. If you want an RBI and hit machine, Pujols is a good pick. If you want a guy who is going to take nights off, is still injured, but mashes homers and walks most of the time, then Bonds is the guy for you. I personally like Vlad and A-Rod who are off to hot starts.

I meally meant this as in actual baseball, with defense and smarts in tact. I just used my fantasy team as an example, becuase thats what got me thinking.

I'm still not sure, If it was the healthy pujols (even though he is as healthy as a mule,the fact that hes only useful as a 1B and not the utility player he used to be comes to mind) Vlad has a great arm, and great defense in general. And although hes not very fast, he's capable of 15 steals like he did last year.

But you all are right, who am I, to not take Pujols.

I would go with Vlad first. Both are pretty much even offensively, but Vlad has better speed. Defensively they're both great.

Vlad is the man, but Pujols is probably a better bet, fantasy wise. But I still voted Vlad.

Fantasy = Pujols
Real life = Vlad

Vlad is faster, can play the OF, and has an amazing arm.
