If a player is taking steroids solely for the enhanced recovery time then it makes perfect sense for a reliever to be taking them so that he can pitch everyday.

Roids can be useful for pitchers because it can increase velocity.

Rincon is easily the bigget name to get busted. He's one of the best set-up men in the majors.

So maybe that's why his fastball can be up in the mid 90's......

Yup, and this is the real reason most players are taking performance enhancers to begin with. The idea of adding distance for hitters and velocity for pitchers is overstated IMO.

This is crazy. Rincon would not be the first guy I would think would be on steroids. He has always looked pudgy to me in a uniform. I wish that they would name what they failed the test for.

I agree Bergie56.... Out of all of the Twins, I would have never of guessed Rincon. Hopefully no one else on the Twins is using ilegal substances. The Twins are going to call up one of their top prospects to take Rincons place, so this may not be a bad thing. I mean now we get to see what would happen if Rincon or Romero gets hurt.

What are you shaking your head for? It was a joke. I would have never said it, but he is the one that took roids. How do you know its not the reason? He sure pitched lights out against us last year.



In his 10IP against the sox last season his ERA was .087 with 12Ks.


Those were his numbers last year against the Sox. Was it because of steroids? Seems like it.

Yeah...the policy is pretty weak since the MLB allows the public to think everyone is being caught for steroids rather than other stuff. Not coming to anyone's defense, but it's hard to think that all cases are steroids-related rather than some being over-the-counter stuff.

I think because they allow it to be so vague, it allows the MLB to be in a better position than they would be in if they suspended people for Andro and such.

just because a person fails doesn't mean they were taking steroids. There could of been something else he was taking that triggered the positive.

I wouldn't classify MLB's drug policy as weak. It in fact, could be argued is strong because they aren't just looking for steroids, but a wide varierty of over the counter stuff and masking agents.

I think the word you are looking for is misleading, as in MLB's vague disclosure policy is trying to mislead the public that everyone who is caught by this policy is a steroid user (and despite the various posts on this forum saying this is not necesarily the case, the deception seems to be working).
